Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

I know what Pokemon Centers and pokeballs are but I don't recognize the rest. Why?

[It's possible Scott is the only person who hasn't figured out they're all from different universes yet. He is, as always, very slow on the uptake.]

Well, it was rather recent that they showed up...what year is it, for you?

Liiiiiiiike 2006, probably?

[It is entirely possible Scott does not know what year it is.]

Ten years early, then. So you probably wouldn't have heard about them. [Her tail swishes back and forth thoughtfully.] Does the name Mt. Ebott mean anything to you?

[queceracera]

That's a ride in Disney World, right?

[This isn't Adventurer's Club, Scott!]

[oceangirlfriend]

[That gets a frown.] It certainly isn't. It's an actual mountain that used to have all sorts of rumors about it. They said no one who went there would ever come back.

[Not that that might have stopped Disney from making a movie about it anyways.]

Ohhhhhhhhh. Spooky!

[He looks like he's waiting for her to, like, tell a spooky story. That's why she brought this mountain up, right?]

[A slightly raised eyebrow.] You could describe it as such-though it's not much of a worry anymore, now that the barrier there has been broken and the monsters trapped there freed. It's a bit of a tourist site now, actually.

[At least one person is probably selling parachutes for you to take your own dive down the crater.]

Oh, like Hawaii. [He does not elaborate on how he made this comparison.] That's pretty cool. How they take care of the monsters there?

Well, monsters are actually naturally pacifistic on average, so there wasn't really any "taking care" of them needed. Their SOULs are made of love and compassion, after all. [...he can probably hear the capitals there, can't he.] It's why most of the casualties in the first war were monsters. They distrusted humans for a long time, but finally decided to take the chance after a human helped break the seal. And now that humans have a better understanding of those not shaped like them, we did our best to reach out and put the mistakes of the past behind us. We're doing our best to integrate them into our culture, now.

[queceracera]

[He kind of wants to ask what a SOUL is and why it's different from a soul, but that seems like a weird and possibly insensitive question.]

Huh. And these are a different kind of monster than the pokemon, right? [Because why not just say "pokemon" if you mean pokemon.] It's cool that you're trying to get along and everything, though. Sometimes it feels like life's just about fighting and not working to understand each other better.

[oceangirlfriend]

Indeed-their bodies are usually more fragile unless supplemented with human Determination. And they can speak much more easily than Pokemon do. [She nods at his comment though.] That's a wise observation. Though for Pokemon, I think they tend to understand each other through fighting. [And technically monsters do have their magic bullets, but that's a gray area.]
