WEEK 1
Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?
There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!
Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
FRIDAY | SATURDAY
[ ooc: Welcome to peace week! Feel free to mingle (and investigate, if you like) to your hearts' content! Please ensure all investigation toplevels are marked accordingly, and otherwise enjoy! If you wish to talk to The Captain or Davy Jones, look here for the former and here for the latter! ]

MONDAY
Investigation - Library
...so, I feel we got off to an awkward first meeting last night. Can we start over from the beginning?
[Later on, she can be seen walking around with a notebook and pen from one of the vending machines. She'll wave down anyone who comes by.]
Excuse me, could I ask you if anything on this list is familiar to you? [She holds out a page from her notebook, which also has various other notes and doodles on the side.]
[Come nighttime, she can be found in the library, sipping canned coffee and scanning through the books. She first starts looking at the title page of each book, just to check their publication dates, before seeking out books about history and geography, trying both to compare them to the world she knows and checking if the books are consistent with each other. Even when lights-out happens, she takes out her phone and uses it as a makeshift light to keep studying, though she'll head back to her room when she starts yawning hard enough.]

But on the other hand, part of it is excitement. This place is new and interesting, the Captain cannot seem to do direct harm to them in the way he so desires, and the only official they've seen in person is an intimidating octopus man who may or may not be a legendary figure of nautical myth! That's incredible! There's so much to think about, so much to wonder, that it is likely no surprise when, as morning seems to approach, she quietly sits up and looks to wherever her roommate Lorna is.]
Excuse me? Are you awake?
[(That's another thing - she's never gotten to have a roommate before! How exciting is that!)
The Jimmy Buffet later becomes a source of neverending curiosity for Flayn. The sheer amount of seafood options nearly send her into a tizzy, and it takes a lot of restraint not to pile several plates high with them - not even Flayn could eat that much fish in one sitting - so instead she settles on one very large plate with one singular piece of fish from every selection, and...well, not very many of the non-seafood options, they look very sad. But she did remember to put some veggies on her plate! Some sad, steamed veggies. And a little bit of spaghetti. Both are less depressing when combined with a forkful of fish, thank goodness. She also takes some time to poke around the bar, intrigued by the idea of making herself a Fancy Drink, and ends up with...well, she doesn't know it exists already, and the novelty of fizzy soda and sweet red syrup and cherries in a pretty glass - with an umbrella of course - does not get old. If you ask nicely, she may make one for you.
Towards late afternoon and into the evening, however, Flayn can be found in the Library, perusing its selection with sparkling eyes. The books here are nothing like what she's used to - the words are printed, for one, making them easier to read, and two?
There's a lot of different books about romance.
This is all she's ever wanted to read and more. While decidedly flipping past the, uh, more salacious scenes, Flayn otherwise doggedly reads every word, basking in the tropey drama that she never gets to see and yet so desperately wants to enjoy.
Not a bad way to spend day one of your murdercruise.]

Investigation! Kind of all over.
[He was clearly capable of seeing into the theater, at least, and there was no reason the rest of the ship wouldn't be similarly monitored. If it was, finding out any blindspots would be important.]
[Come morning he's raided the vending machines for some thick pens and picked a nice blank spot of wall on deck. He's christened it with a very unflattering caricature of a man in a captain's hat. There are stink lines above him.]
There's more pens if you wanna add on.

Investigation --- Library | Monday Top-Levels
But Filbo isn't too worried. For some reason he doesn't feel like he'd be a target for anyone. True, he's not too great but nobody hates him yet! And hopefully nobody ever will, but he knows it's not impossible there'll be someone with a bone to pick with him for pretty much no reason. He has experienced that before, after all.
This all simply means he can spend all his time worrying for everyone else instead of himself. What if...someone is killed? It could--It could happen. He knows that]
There's a long day ahead of us, roomie! Time for me to get started with work!
[He said that to Jasper before leaving the room he and Jasper shared. Filbo didn't wait to see if Jasper had heard him or if he even cared. There were far more important things to think about.
Library
Well, plans changed: the day before he had said to Freyja finding where the ship was going would be a good starting point. There now was an answer to that: to nowhere unless murder happened. In that case, perhaps...something about their location could help? Like, how close they were to the coast, or something like nautical charts with a route in it? Filbo didn't have the slightest idea how to read nautical charts, but he'd cross that bridge once he got there.
There's Filbo, rooting through the books, looking for those that weren't fiction. Every book that wasn't of any use was left aside on the floor, messy stacks of them piled against the wall. A couple of books about oceans were wide open, showing blue graphics about nautical routes.
--------
Investigation: Library: --- anything worthwhile to be found in the library shelves or in the nonfiction books?
------
Still, Filbo comments to anyone who comes close to see what he's doing:]
Why are there so many romance books? I don't hate the genre, but it's a strange choice, don't you think? Unless...does the Captain want you all to hook up?
[Using the books as inspiration and what not. Have ships while on this cruise ship, everyone! Hah!
Once the library books were checked, Filbo visited the vending machines. Oh, so much free stuff! He already has taken a lot of office supplies and many cans of soda, leavin everything to a side of the room while he keeps checking the machines]
It's all for free! Well, I suppose that was to be expected, we don't have money. [Filbo knocked on the only vending machine that wasn't free] But what's in this one? If it needs money we don't have then it must be important. It can't be it has more sodas inside, right?
[Or maybe it does, who knows]

As for outside the room, Lalli can be found in a couple places! First off being the gym, where he's staring at the treadmill.]
What is this for?
[Likewise, Lally can be found by the pool, staring at it with disdain on his face.]
This is pointless. Why is it even here? It just takes up space.

investigation - margaritaville
[The next morning in room 11 saw him at least leave behind the cape in favor of the purple suit underneath it, which probably passed for 'casual'. He would be seen moving around the ship with the same authoritative stride like he had the faintest idea where the hell he was going, which brought him to the library for most of the morning. With a stack of books on a table, he was paging through one in his hands with...if not a pensive expression, certainly the demeanor.]
[Later on he'd give the buffet a very close look; top to bottom, any dark corner or chair and table undersides. You know, the kind of places one might conceal something key-sized. Rather notably, he wasn't eating anything when others were around; later on, he'd take some food and disappear back to Room 11 briefly when his roommate wasn't likely to be around. If anyone was still thinking he was a robot, that was probably a good indicator he needed human sustenance.]

Oh, it's you.
[ The following morning, having never changed clothes at any point during the night, she creeps out of her room and starts exploring the ship properly.
The convenient thing about being very small is that you don't have to stop too low to read the book titles on the lower shelves of the library. A less convenient thing is you need to either get a ladder to reach the top shelf, or you have to scale that shit like it's the face of a mountain! It's not a very fun reminder for someone who just spent a year furiously deprived of the ability to just fly around everywhere. Magica, in an incredible show of maturity and restraint, chooses to simply drag a chair around with her when needed. You're welcome, everyone.
Ultimately these efforts are a waste of time, because the closest thing this library has to a grimoire is probably an occult romance or a Fear Street superchiller, and she moves on to to examine the vending machines in no better a mood. It takes very little time for this to devolve into her aggressively punching in random numbers and then tossing the item that comes out aside with no further interest... at least until she makes it to that one vending machine. You know the one. There, she stops in her tracks. ]
Huh, [ she says to nobody, crossing her arms, and then looks around to check for a second opinion. ] You there, what do you make of this?
[ Vaguely around lunchtime, she shows up at the buffet and loads her plate with calamari and nothing else — which is a pretty bold move even without the first mate taken into consideration, but it seems to make her happy. She just sits there in silence and pops some fried tentacles into her mouth ever so often, making sure she chews with an ominous crunch noise each and every time. On occasion, she glares at the ceiling. ]

Sleep comes fitfully for him, as usual. He wakes up a little before six in the morning, only to spot Data looming elsewhere in the room. Instinctively, he reaches into his jacket for something, only for his hand to come up empty. Squinting in the dim light, Constantine begins to remember the circumstances he had found himself in previously. He scowls.]
You're still here. [He says, in a slightly begrudging tone.] Didn't realize that tin men needed to sleep.
[Perhaps he's sour because he's being forced to share a room, or maybe it's just the prospect of being stuck on the ship for an indeterminate amount of time. Either way, he seems grumpier than yesterday.]

In the morning at the Buffet buffet Reika lingers near the edge of the room watching over the food and her fellow passengers stream in. She watches with her arms crossed. If approached she'll simply say,]
Strange that our Captain decided to continue the act, don't you think?
[It's said seriously but there's no worry in her voice. She doesn't seem to get anything from the buffet this morning, either, but she can be seen making a quick breakfast of vending machine snacks.
Later, she's in the library at a table. In front of her is a spread of the non-fiction books. Wars, books on the ocean? It doesn't seem to matter. Some are already beside her as she finishes them. It's pointless to actually trying to escape so soon so for now she's taking the strategy of waiting.
About dinner time she pushes the books back into the library shelves. There's a book she's going to just slip out of library's thriller section, though. Don't mind her as she's going to head to the pool to more slowly read until she figures she better get back to her cabin before Alice does.]

investigation
You didn't happen to see anyone restocking these, did you?
[Later, the magician is seen lurking around the library, searching the shelves for any secrets that have been squirreled away. A majority of what he finds, however, is just more trashy romance novels and badly-written thrillers.
After searching for a while, he grows bored and finds himself flipping through a few of the paperbacks to see just what kind of taste the Captain has. He can be found sitting on the floor of the library with a few stacks of books scattered around him. Currently, he's flipping through a book titled "LOVE UNDER THE PALE MOONLIGHT" with a bored expression.
If someone enters the room, he doesn't even look up as he says--]
Don't bother with the demon ones. Horribly inaccurate, and not even in the fun way.
[Eventually, he makes his way up to the top deck to look into what he wanted to investigate in the first place. Constantine strides over to the railing on the side of the ship, then gingerly climbs over it. He grips the metal tightly. The wind whips at his tie and jacket lapels, as if trying to snatch them away from him. Constantine stares down at the deep, dark ocean below and the white waves left in the ship's wake.
It's a long drop.
Is this a stupid idea? Yes, it is. But John Constantine is nothing but stupid in style. Besides, rules are meant to be broken. He sucks in a breath, straightening his tie with one hand.]
Right, then. Let's see what the Captain has in store for ol' Johnny.
[And with that, he lets go of the railing and steps off the side of the ship as easily as one might step into traffic.]

On Tuesday, however, she seems a little more functional and willing to deal with people; she seems to have decided that the mantle can stay off for now - the dress is still ruffly in the skirt but otherwise it's a surprisingly normal white low-cut dress.
Once she's out of the room, Freyja can be found wandering the ship, largely - the vending machines are definitely someplace Freyja can be found, though she doesn't seem like she's actually eating anything she's managing to get out of it; she's just kind of stockpiling candy and the occasional bag of whatever passes for Takis around here for...some reason. Odd.
Otherwise, she can be found back in the party zone, studying the space like she's trying to figure something out.]
This seems like someplace that there should be live entertainment, does it not? Either that or it's a banquet hall... Either way, it seems like a waste of space to leave it as it is.
[Like, what is even the point of this entire 90s hellscape if we cannot indeed party like it's 1999.
Eventually, though, as evening wanes into night, she doesn't seem inclined at all to settle; she returns to her room for a brief while, seeking out Chloe in the interest of...well.]
...Might I ask you something?
[Whatever that something is.
Late at night, though, she'll come out of the room again, heading up to the top deck; the white dress is gone, replaced by the swimsuit she'd found in her room. She looks like a Dixie cup and doesn't seem too concerned with modesty, seeing as she isn't bothering to cover up on the way up there; she just makes her way up to the pool, pausing for only a brief moment before slipping into the water.
If she's going to be up here, it's better to do it late at night; she is, after all, far more accustomed to the stars than the sun.]

Still! Today's primary focus for Plumeria is trawling through the Library, where she's got...oh god, she's got an unholy amount of books beside her. They seem to all be sorted into various piles, but they're all romance novels. There's a few large piles that just seem to be filled to the brim with the trashiest of the trash, some milder offerings that are boring at best, and the one in Plumeria's hand that's...
...Well, she seems pretty riveted by it, given that she's consumed half of the book already, from the looks of it. It doesn't appear to be much more than an average little romance novel, but there's something soft in her look as she reads it.]
...Unconditional love, huh. I wonder how far it will take you.
[That's said more to herself than anything, but she's not exactly perceptive to anything but the strangely riveting tale before her.
At any rate, she'll likely be simply wandering around again, just trying to work out what seems to be a nervous, teeming energy about her. The less she sees of this place, the less she likes, but...well, she's stuck here, so she may as well get used to it.
Of course, that wandering eventually takes her to the gym; unlike certain skeletons who don't know how to operate machinery, Plumeria isn't going to be stupid about technology at the very least, and she seems to be experimenting with the treadmill some while staying off of it.
...The only real problem here is that she has. No clue how to operate this nonsense. It's just button pressing and then it goes to fast, then it goes too slow, and Plumeria's face is already contorting something fierce--and if you happen to enter the room, well, you're getting called over.]
Hey, you. [...The severity of the tone depends on just who/what you are, and outside of like, Lady Freyja (who would never be treated with such disrespect) and Filbo (who she isn't going to be that rude to?), it's gonna be pretty sharp.] Do you know how to...get this thing to properly work?
[...Asking for help properly is like pulling teeth, but god dammit she's trying okay.
And later in the night, Plumeria can be found in the pool; it's a little awkward to swim about with her wings being as useless as they are, but she seems to have settled into at least floating on her back and vibing a bit, in the single most grandma-esque swimsuit she could find as she just stares up and contemplates everything. She'll have to go back to her room later to get some sleep, but for now...it's nice, at the very least.]

Oh come on! There has to be something here.
[Later on, toward evening, he can be found near the vending machines. He's just pressing buttons in seemingly random patterns and accumulating a small mountain of snacks. This is what qualifies as investigation for Scott. He thinks this is a Sierra Games point and click adventure.
Eventually, like deep at night, he's in the pool. He's not swimming, more just floating and staring up at the sky. For the record, his swim trunks look like this. You're welcome.]

Investigation Ahoy!
[Early in the morning finds early birds, or maybe just the early soldierly types (they are All Very Soldierly, y'all), or maybe just Allenby cavorting about the ship -- more specifically the ✧・゚:*Party Zone*:・゚✧ -- it's doubtful that anyone's feeling all that festive, though.
The ridiculous hour aside, they did just have a close encounter with (kind of stupid, but still) death a while ago, another few death threats in between, and now there's like five cryptids on board and no one knows where all of them are at any given time. Kind of puts a damper on anyone wanting to pop a party.
Which means she's taking advantage of all of the above to mess around in the party section! First of all, she'll be checking the New Year's swag for information, including dates and times and locations, like what year is it, why is it supposedly New Year's, what's the point. Itineraries? Past itineraries? More pamphlets?
She'll also be checking out the rest of the room; hapless bystanders might walk in to find her stacking tables and chairs to reach and peer into the chandeliers.]
You think stuff like this is a hazard if we're supposed to be in a death match, or a battle royale or what? Not that any of it's planned all that well, but better safe than sorry? We were running into some pretty dumb sabotage attempts for a while there...
II. Putting the Gym through its Gears 2k21(?)
[Rather later in the morning, but still morning proper rather than Normal People Cruise Hours, Allenby's wandered her way on over to the onboard gym, because of course she has. What, did you expect her not to immediately out herself as somebody who spends more time with weights and machines than people?? Alas.
She doesn't spend all that much time on any one of the provided amenities and gadgets, seemingly just putting everything through its paces, including pretty much all the weights. Seems like someone with her build shouldn't be able to toss these things around like rice paper, but hey.
You might find her doing that absurd thing, or otherwise going through an equally absurd flurry of martial arts moves with the ease of long practice. All of the kiai might be a clue!]
Hah! Haa-hah! You'd think a place like this would have a better gym, or at least an arcade, or something... good thing I don't need anything except my fists for this.
[And if you're one of the profiles with like, a military-like or military-adjacent occupation or something (or I guess if you're literally or figuratively a robot), she'll raise an eyebrow at you over her fists:]
I could use a moving target to wake up properly, though. So? How about it?
III. Wrong Neighborhood, It's a Bust (Room 10 + Neighbors + Rubberneckers)
You know, I always thought cruises were supposed to be more... cool? Better furniture? The scenery is pretty nice, but this is almost as barebones as the junk I used to eat dinner in. No offense, gramps.
[At some point in the day or maybe later towards evening, Allenby finally gets around to finding her roommate again back in their quarters -- seemingly she's striking up a conversation, though she's also just apologized to someone who isn't here. Carmen certainly isn't a grandpa by any stretch of the imagination.
Probably.
You never know around here.
It's all bare curiosity rather than complaining, probably because she seems to have settled into the cramped living space and the too-many-people-and-little-privacy mess like she was made for it, or just roughly fitting like one of the old-fashioned and terrible tie-dye shirts she's currently holding up and squinting at.
She's standing in the doorway of Room 10, so she might also address whoever is around there.]
And I don't know about you, but I still haven't found any of the staff hiding under the beds or in a vending machine somewhere.

Investigation Ahoy!

general outdoors investigation!
So, today's mission, after he spends an inordinate amount of time in the shower (both due to all the time spent dissociating and the fact that he takes forever in the shower anyway), he puts on the suit minus jacket and tie, gets... lunch... because he got up late, go to the library to pick out nonfiction books, and makes himself some kind of fruity concoction so he can spend the afternoon reading and lounging on the top deck.
In fairness, he isn't just lazing about. He actually spends a fair amount of time taking a break from his reading and looking at the sky and the ocean to see if he can spot any signs of the weather changing or any wildlife that might be visible from the ship. He's not really sure what to expect, but at the same time, if the weather seems entirely uniform and there aren't any signs of wildlife, that might be some clue about the ship's circumstances.
...and, well, even though he leaves for meals and such, he's back up on the top deck late at night. He's not lounging or swimming, though, he's just... staring off into the middle distance as he leans on the railing.]

Investigation!
He's used to a lot of activity. But frankly, there's not...that much for him to do here. He doesn't even need to eat...so why is he hanging out in the buffet buffet around breakfast time? Does he just want to chill with everyone else? He doesn't even have any food to pretend to eat.
After that's done, he goes to the library to hang out for a while before the meeting. At his processing speeds, he could have already read all of these books, so he's attempting to pace himself. Right now, it looks like he's sticking with the military histories; he's got a pile of three or four, and is trying to read them slowly. Like a person. He's still flipping the pages absurdly fast.]
It is interesting that they seem to have brought books from several different universes as well.
[At some point, he's gonna have to get into all those romance novels. If only for something to do.
At night, he'll be sitting out on the upper deck by the pool. He's got some paper and a pen, as well as a map of Earth from the back of one of the nonfiction books, and seems to be consulting the stars. Not charting them out, but if you go look over his shoulder, he's definitely keeping records and doing math. Can he chart their course?]

Investigation(?)
With that in mind, Flayn goes to a place she hadn't had much interest in before: the gym! She is not STRONK, nor is she looking to get ripped, but no one seemed to say they had looked in here particularly, so to be sure that nothing is missed, she is taking her time investigating each and every piece of equipment. Every weight is looked at from all angles, and the smaller ones (think 5lbs) are moved to check if anything is hiding underneath them. The bikes are scrutinized, Flayn taking the time to crank the pedals with her hands like...like a crank winch. Like a thing you use to pull up a bucket from a well. The treadmills are investigated in a similar manner, no buttons pressed, just a short young lady using her tiny arms to push the belt inch by inch to check its entire length.
One could say this is a workout in and of itself! And boy, does Flayn feel like it has been. Afterwards, she takes a brief trip to the vending machine room and then retreats to the Party Zone with a newly-acquired pack of pens and a notebook, carefully copying down the information on the profiles from her device. It's just a way to get the information in her head, so she won't forget it, in a more familiar format.
Her handwriting is quite nice! It's got that old-timey script feel to it. On the table are some of her earlier procured vending machine snacks, which she nibbles at every so often. Even the Takis Freyja gave her are being eaten! It's just a nice, chill time. That said, if you would like some snacks and don't feel like going to the vending machines yourself, Flayn is happy to share.]

The ship is her oyster, or something.
She finds herself aimlessly wandering through the party zone after, grabbing some of the leftover party poppers and making a mess on the floor. Just because. In the end, she mostly stares at the chandeliers, in a mix of awe and annoyance. ]
You think the people who make this shit know how gaudy it is? Like. You think they know how many hot pockets it could buy instead? ...Or like, eggs, or some shit?
[ She's philosophical today. It's philosophical Chloe hours.
Later in the night, she decides to just...look at the stars, by the pool. She'll be there well into evening. ]

THURSDAY
investigation!
Though she does take a break to get back into her normal clothes and hit up the buffet. She just sits there eating the terrible BBQ ribs and leafing through another cheap murder book from the library, linefacing the whole way, though if you come up to her...]
It's already been too long.
[Or you can catch her in the gym, now in the worn-out old 90s clothes, running on the treadmill. She seems pretty into it, and she keeps putting the settings higher.]

SATURDAY
no subject
It certainly doesn't help that it's almost been a week since Constantine last had a cigarette. The detective is quite limited in his appearances on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, however, he manages to drag himself out of his room, looking slightly more bedraggled than before. Withdrawal symptoms be damned, he's got other things to deal with--like pawning off that junk that he got from that (definitely magic) vending machine.
Constantine can be found lurking in the party zone, babysitting a pile of items laid out on one of the tables. His regular clothes, thankfully, have been laundered and he wears a cowboy hat slightly askew on his head. In one hand, he holds a scary looking sword, leaning against it as casually as one might hold a cane. If approached, he'll grumble--]
Unless you got somethin' really good, sword's staying with me. And the cowboy hat.
[Later, Constantine can be found out on the deck, looking out towards the ocean. There's nothing but blue as far as the eye can see, and if you squint, it's hard to distinguish where the sea ends and the sky begins.
Upon first glance, he looks like he's just leaning against the side of the ship. But as you approach, he seems to be hunched over, holding his head in his hand and balancing his elbow against the metal railing. His face is marred by exhaustion. His eyes are focused on the horizon, but there's the impression that he's not really observing it.]
What d'you think happens to all those ships and airplanes that get lost in the Bermuda Triangle?
