WEEK 1
Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?
There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!
Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
FRIDAY | SATURDAY
[ ooc: Welcome to peace week! Feel free to mingle (and investigate, if you like) to your hearts' content! Please ensure all investigation toplevels are marked accordingly, and otherwise enjoy! If you wish to talk to The Captain or Davy Jones, look here for the former and here for the latter! ]

[So there's that.]
Some of you dream of more interesting things than others. Some are more prone to purely mundane things; some have rather vivid nightmares every night. Neither option is unfamiliar to me.

[So now it's time for option two: lying. The trick to being a good liar is to slip in little half-truths and allow yourself believe in the lie, just for a moment. Constantine's perfected the art--but of course, between his twitchy hands and the fog that persists in his brain, he might not be as convincing as he thinks.
He takes on a casual demeanor as he shrugs, crossing his arms.]
I don't dream most days. [A total, utter lie.] When I do, it's usually about people I've met. [Half-truth.] What does a dream usually tell about a person, in your professional opinion?

[She tips her head back a bit, fixing her attention on the stars again.]
My brother was quite in love with humanity, and I believe that blinded him in so many ways; he wanted to see them prosper, to see them laugh. To see them fly. His love for them was immense, but he knew very little about them.
Nightmares tell you a human's fears. Their doubts, their views of the world. What they hate, but also what they love - who or what they believe they cannot live without.
Dreams tell you what a person wishes for. Nightmares tell you their reality.

When the bad outweighs the good in your lives, you have no choice but to learn from it some way or another. He hesitates. The corner of his mouth twitches upwards.
Sod it.]
I wouldn't wish my reality upon any other mortal, that's for sure. There's nothin' but mistakes and guilt in there. [A shrug.] But you've gotta live with it, y'know?
And what's your outlook on humanity, Lady Freyja?

[It's easier to keep her gaze skyward.]
I feel several things toward humanity. Largely, I find you to be frightening.

Now that's interesting. In what ways?

...There's also the desire to kill everything that you fail to comprehend, or that you believe inconveniences you. I'd think that bears mentioning as well.

Ah, yes. Hate and fear spreads like a plague among those who can't see any other option. It gives people as much a purpose as love does--maybe even more so.
[He sighs.]
I figure most people convince themselves that it's a matter of pride. In a good spot, pride means holdin' your head high. But in a bad spot? Having pride just means finding someone to look down at. Elevate yourself above the drivel.

And yet those of us that do not reside among those in Midgard understand that there is a balance to be maintained, and upsetting that balance brings forth dire consequences. Humans, in my experience, seem to be more preoccupied with not being constrained by anything, even if those constraints are for the good of all others that exist. It's a rather selfish mindset.

[He runs a hand through his hair.]
You can't really blame them, since a lot of 'em don't see the greater picture. Lots of 'em don't even believe in a higher power or things happenin' beyond their comprehension.
[Therein lie his sympathies.]
You've got to credit them for at least trying to make the world better. Damned if you do, damned it you don't kind of way.

[She shifts where she's sitting in the hot tub, folding her arms against the edge and cradling her head in them.]
...Some could stand to try a little less, granted...
