Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

She was a famous murderer. It shouldn't matter since she's not on the ship but some of our fellow passengers are rather jumpy.

How exactly did that happen, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm her adoptive mother--all that happened nearly two centuries ago. Like Davy Jones she's not exactly human. I think even back then she wasn't human... I'd rather not talk about her reasons right now.

[She couldn't speak for the first mate but Jack was a special case. Reika sighed.]

I'm not sure about the details, myself, but there was a famous serial killing case in my world. Five women were dismembered in a busy city over some time. The killer was never found--giving them the same sort of infamy that a myth like Davy Jones has. The public decided on the name of "Jack the Ripper" since the culprit was never found.

She says she's not sure if she's the culprit or not behind it, only that she was a strong candidate for being Jack the Ripper.

My, how fascinating... How is it that you met and came to adopt her?

To be honest, she chose me. I couldn't tell you the details but the mage who summoned her was a poor fit. She refused the contract; I just happened to be there.

She's adorable. Eager to play. If I didn't know any better I'd say she was like any other child.

[Is it Jack the Ripper stanning time? Why, yes, yes it is! But Reika does stop herself. She looks at the sky with a stretch before turning to him.]

But that's the thing, isn't it? It doesn't take malice to do something like murder.

I can't say I've ever known a kid quite like that, but she does seem to be very lucky to have someone as understanding and caring as you!

I never thought that I would have children but the world has a way of surprising you.

Certainly not! Yanked out of our lives and deposited here so suddenly... Honestly, it still feels like a dream!
