Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

Yeah. Well, at some point after we talked about that, I started wondering if... maybe this entire thing is somehow my fault? I thought maybe it had started to grant my wish of happiness with Alice by putting us on one of the romantic cruises I'd sent in all the sweepstakes entries for, but it got interrupted somehow during the battle I was in before this and everything got messed up.

[ He puts a hand to his forehead and closes his eyes. ]

See, if you open the secret compartment before the 765 days are over, you get a curse instead of a wish, so maybe I somehow ended up with both at once, and it gave me this, where things are partly fantastic but otherwise terrible.

[ Like, maybe Magica's here as part of the wish because having an occult friend is cool, but maybe because of the curse she's a duck and kind of a bitch. ]

[ Tragically, she immediately starts turning this over in her head as a serious possibility to evaluate. Partially, this is because she'd like some mechanism or person to redirect some of her seething hatred onto, but mostly? Larry, she's on Ducktales. ]

Hmm. Wish-granting magic is 70-30 on turning into a monkey's paw situation as is, so it's not unheard of — but also, no. How would the rest of us have even be here? It's not as though your wishes had anything to do with our presence here, considering you didn't know we existed.

[ Okay, but there was a spike in magical energy where she was just before she stopped being where she was, and started being here. Could they have been noticed? ]

Well... Yeah, that's probably true. I thought maybe it was somehow bringing both people I'd like and ones I wouldn't, or something. Reaching across different worlds to find all of you and pull you in to this one does kind of seem like a stretch, though.

...And yeah, I guess when you put it that way, it really does sound like a pretty big stretch. I guess I was just thinking like, you're here, and while that seems pretty out of left field, I've never had anyone to talk with about this kind of stuff before, and you've got this amazing aesthetic and everything! If someone had asked me before this to make up a person I'd want to be friends with, and I wasn't allowed to just say Alice, I think whoever I'd have come up with would have had a lot in common with you!

Oh, yeah! It was definitely listed in the love charms section, and I read the instructions that came with it really carefully. 765 days is a pretty big investment, so there was no way I wanted to risk messing it up.
