Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

I'm aware of a few means by which we could have been brought here, and a few people with the power to wield those means. I want to rule them out entirely.

It does seem unlikely, but I would like to confirm for Plumeria's sake, among other reasons. The ones I have in mind are like your Alexei - if they were to want to kill us all, they would do so and be done with it, and they wouldn't do it quite like this if they had to do otherwise.

[She hesitates to call Alfonse boring, but he's sorta milquetoast? She has a hard time seeing anyone in that group running a party boat.]

Honestly, I doubt many people would choose to set it up exactly like this. Though I have a hard time seeing most people being willing to do something like this in the first place...

That's about as crazy as everything else happening here, so that could be it!

I wonder what kind of ritual it would be, though...

It's difficult to say. But most rites intended to give mortals more power than they deserve rely on blood sacrifice.

That certainly would explain trying to get us to kill one another. It seems a bit of a roundabout way to do it, but perhaps the Captain can't kill us himself for whatever rite he's trying to pull off.

I think the main flaw I can see with the assumption that it's a rite is... Well, I can't see why he couldn't have Lord Davy do it.

There's certainly something more at play here, since I can't imagine Mr. Davy willingly working for the Captain - especially if that profile of his is to be believed.

[So a contract, like Freyja mentioned before, but we have no idea what the terms of that contract are or what limitations it may have placed on Davy, or... anything, really.]

I suppose the most we can do for now is to talk with them and see what information we can gather.

Oh, he certainly isn't here willingly. The Captain has some sort of leverage, from what he's claimed.

I'm guessing Mr. Jones couldn't say anything more regarding that? It might be helpful to know exactly what it is the Captain has over him... But I doubt we'll learn much about that so easily.

It felt as though it would be pushing a boundary to ask. Perhaps I'll try again the next time I speak to him... But I agree, it doesn't seem something that we'll receive simply by asking.
