Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

Flayn loves this thing, it is so bright and colorful and it is covered in fish but it is during normal people hours so when she decides to come to the pool, she's wearing this over it.

Look, this is when there are boys around, it's fine if it's just girls but boys? No, she can feel Seteth having a breakdown from across the multiverse. Best to cover up a little.

She seems to be heading towards the pool at first, but then she notices the hot tub attached, so when Sara emerges from the water, she's likely to see Flayn on her hands and knees, cautiously dipping a hand into the bubbly water.]

This...this is not a bathtub. It cannot be. Why is it so hot?

[Sara climbs out of the pool and watches her for a moment.]

That's a hot tub. It's heated to relax in. They're usually around pools made for fun, instead of those that are there for sports or training.

[cethflayn]

[Looks up!]

So it is meant to be hot...to lounge in? That sounds quite luxurious.

[It's so fucking hard to keep water hot for tubs. It's so hard.]

[onlyyoucan]

Right. It's not healthy to stay in very long, but they use it for therapy in short doses.

[cethflayn]

[Flayn is already slowly lowering herself in. It's...not too too hot? But it is quite hot, like. A freshly drawn bath hot.]

And it stays like this?

It does. I think they were inspired by hot springs, except it's artificial.

[cethflayn]

You mean like natural hot springs? I have heard of them, but I have not ever been to a real one...

[She doesn't drop herself deeper than chest level, and stays on one of the seated areas around the rim. Dunking her head is no longer an option, unless she's around Plumeria and no one else.]

Oh, this is quite soothing...

[Sara looks around, pauses, and sits at the side, not getting in.]

There isn't a lot here that was around where you're from, is there?

[cethflayn]

No, there is not. Many things are quite different.

[But that's honestly okay? Flayn doesn't seem to fussed by it.]

I like learning about them, though. My world was very small for a long time. Being able to broaden it over the years has been an experience I am eternally grateful for.

[onlyyoucan]

...It sounds nice to think that way. Finding happiness even when a lot of things have gone wrong.

[cethflayn]

Mm...it is not as if I have had a choice. But one makes due.

[She starts to card her fingers through the end of her hair idly.]

[onlyyoucan]

...I'm not the type to, I don't think. I just feel guilty trying. But... well, it can be nice.

[She flinches once the words are out and looks down into the water reflecting the sky.]

[cethflayn]

...I can understand why you might feel that way.

[You shouldn't have to feel that way, but it is a thing that happens. Brains are weird. Feelings are weird.]

In the face of adversity, it can be hard to find anything good around you. And when you might think of others who may have a worse lot, it can sour your own perception. You might think, "what right do I have to be happy when there is so much suffering in the world?" [She shakes her head.] I think everyone struggles with thoughts like that.

[onlyyoucan]

But -- [She stops and sighs.] Your home must have a lot going on, too.

[cethflayn]

It does, yes.

[She's really not sure if Sara wants her to elaborate or explain again that being cooped up scared of everything, whether here or at home, isn't good for you.]

[onlyyoucan]

...Be safe in here. You have people waiting for you, even so.

[cethflayn]

[A grim little nod.] I shall do my best.

[There's a pause.]

You ought to do your best, too.

[onlyyoucan]

Don't worry. I will. There's something I have to do... no, something only I can do.

[cethflayn]

[Another nod.]

Is it to do with the Strains you spoke of?

[onlyyoucan]

Something like that. There's someone I have to face, before he kills anyone else. I don't know where he is, or how I'll get to him the way things stand, but...

[cethflayn]

I see.

[No wonder she's so confused by Flayn deciding to roll with their situation - Sara's more focused on getting back home and doing something really important.]

Then, ideally, you would want to leave this place.

[But like. Would you kill someone to do that?]

[onlyyoucan]

We have to. So I'll look for a way out no matter what.

[cethflayn]

[Flayn is quiet for a moment.]

...Would you take the Captain's offer, if you need to? If there really is no other way?

[onlyyoucan]

There can't be no other way. I don't want anyone else to die. That includes the people here.

[cethflayn]

[It almost looks like a bit of weight is lifted off of Flayn's shoulders when Sara says that.]

I think so, too. That there must be some other way - one we cannot see yet. If we merely believed everything the Captain said to us, we would be fools, would we not?
