Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

The more people who can detect any strange magic around here, the better.

I can't detect anything right now. It's like I used up all my magic and I'm waiting for it to replenish.

Weird. Me too, actually.

Except in my case, it's more alarming because my artes don't really go away. My body is... magic. More or less.

I'm a malak; an earth spirit.

It's not good or bad, it just 'is.'

Ah, well.

I'm still getting used to this "other worlds" thing.

Malak. Mantu. It's the same thing.

I guess I'm not completely surprised. Nice to know we exist in more places than just my world!

They're more like spirits in my world. Not human-shaped.

Oh, not all malakhim look human. Only some of us do.

There are also Normin and Katz, among others.

Yeah, Katz! They're a funny bunch to be around.

[They speak entirely in cat puns!]

Some malakhim can look like animals, though. There's a nice lady named Morgrim I've met before. A malak would never mistake her for a house pet, though I suppose a human might.

Cats aren't house pets. Cats are working animals. And if a cat can talk they're different anyway.

Do they pull little carts? How do you train a cat to walk on a lead?

[Like. You could ask a Katz to do it and they'd probably decline by saying it would be a 'cat-tastrophe', but a cat??]

No. They smell out trolls and tell humans where they are. And they eat rodents and keep them out of food supplies.

[What even is Zaveid talking about???]

....Trolls? What kind of troll would be hard to detect?

[It's not like these guys are that great at hiding.]

Where I'm from they're hard to miss.

[silentscout]

Sometimes they're small. Like the size of rats. They can be hard to find. So cats can find the hiding ones.
