Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

In the form of activated carbon, pure carbon can be either helpful or dangerous. It can be used to treat cases of poisoning, but it may also interfere with any medical treatment a human is currently undergoing.

But this contains carbon dioxide, not pure carbon. It is a gas, like that which you exhale.

Oh.

[He doesn't fully understand the jargon there, but he can get the gist of it. Especially since he sort of knows what carbon is already.]

Seems weird to put in a drink. Why is it in there? Flavor?

I suppose it must be. Humans clearly enjoy it.

[He takes a sip, and his eyes go wide as he pulls the cup back from his mouth.]

It's bubbly.

Yes. It also comes in several other flavors.

There are both. Would you like to try them?

[Look, he's totally chill spending this party bringing drinks to a guy hiding beneath a table. This is sort of interesting anyway.]

[He does not at all find it weird to make that request of Data. Finding new flavors of bubbly drinks is great.

He is also downing the rest of that cup of soda while he waits.]

[Data will return with several different kinds of soda! Leaning down to place them beneath the table, he also adds:]

Seltzer can also be used in mixed drinks.

[He will take them all and try each of them. But as he tries drinks, he will keep talking with Data.]

So you can add your own flavor to seltzer?

You can. Humans do enjoy it.
