Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

That would be my assumption. Even if he dislikes the situation, he must be getting something out of it that's worth trying. I've heard that death can be used for magical purposes. I think Lalli might be correct in that this seems like some sort set up for that.

I'm afraid I don't know what; I'm not skilled in magic.

My world is one with a society based in technological advancements, not magical ones. I don't have any detailed knowledge on the matter.

[you know how sometimes you have a true statement that leaves out a lot of important information? crazy how that works.]

But I would agree that with the situation as presented, the idea of death as a necessary element is a concern worth keeping in mind. 'Necessary for what' should be our next question to seek an answer to, before one of us takes it upon themselves to do something extremely foolish.

I only stumbled on it recently. I didn't even thought it existed before I met Jack.

It might be as simple as our Captain finds it amusing and has a treasure trove hidden away to hand over to Davy Jones once it's finished. I doubt it'd be so simple, though. Life never is.

That is a very likely situation, but it seems too simple. The result doesn't equal or surpass the effort put into it. This fully stocked ship, the crossing of universes, all of it must have taken immense work and likely financial contributions. 'Amusement' simply doesn't seem like enough of a reward for the Captain himself in a situation where all is said and done as he wishes.

No, you're right. It's too complex and too intense on resources for that. [You know, it's weird that you're suggesting it, though. Mister 'one month old'.] I assume he has the backing of the cruise line... though, this isn't much of a cruise ship.

I have doubts the cruise line look is anything more than his chosen presentation. Where he acquired the ship and supplies...

[Zero trailed off, a thought seeming to occur to him.]

There was a book from my world in the library. It's possible everything here was acquired the same way we were pulled here ourselves--whatever that method may be.

It is rather small for one, that's true.

Hm, it's possible but that would beg the question why wouldn't the Captain use things from his own world? We have no proof he's not from this world, after all. A home base is very important for pulling something like this off. For that matter, do we even know the Captain is aboard?

We can't even be certain what world this is to begin with. And much as his title would imply him to be on the ship somewhere, without seeing him in person we have no solid evidence he isn't communicating with us from elsewhere.

I guess it might be on an earth, judging by what Filbo brought up earlier. Though, that doesn't narrow it down since it could be from my world or someone else's on the ship or someone else's entirely.

He could be controlling the ship through a remote control, after all.

Indeed. But while we don't know that he's here, neither do we know that he isn't.

For as much as we've found in a short time, we seem to have only myriad unanswered questions.
