Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

[Serious nodding.] Yeah. Our culture's very different from what the oldest monsters remember, and in case of misunderstandings it's best to have someone who can defuse things.

[onlyyoucan]

We don't even have monsters. Not outside of stories, that I know of. But even humans can't understand each other.

[oceangirlfriend]

You may be right. But there's still things we share with each other, and ways that we can find common ground. Pokemon training, for one.

[onlyyoucan]

What is that? I've never heard of it.

[oceangirlfriend]

[A slow blink.] Pokemon are...the other nonhuman species in my world. They're spread across all regions, and they and humans work together in all sorts of ways. Pokemon enjoy fighting, so humans often guide them to learn how to fight more efficiently, and Pokemon lend their strength and abilities to all kinds of projects. I'm a trainer myself, with a team of six.

[onlyyoucan]

I see. ...nobody recognizes things I think are normal, either.

[oceangirlfriend]

[A nod.] I think that might be something we all need to deal with, in various ways.

[onlyyoucan]

So people know how to use the machines?

[oceangirlfriend]

I think it's different for everyone. [She had to teach Flayn how the smartphone worked, after all.] We don't just come from different worlds, after all, but even different times in those worlds.

[onlyyoucan]

That's what I mean. Making sure everyone's up to speed, so we all know how things work here.

[oceangirlfriend]

Yeah...you think we could hold a seminar for that?

[onlyyoucan]

I'm not sure everyone would come.

[oceangirlfriend]

[She taps her chin.] Well...the vending machines have paper and pencils, too. I suppose we could also write down operating instructions and what to be careful about.

[onlyyoucan]

And tape to put them up. That could work. At least so no one gets injured.

[oceangirlfriend]

[Adeline nods.] I'll get started on that later, then. You want to help?

[onlyyoucan]

...I might as well. All right.

[A nod.] I'll meet you at the vending machines later, then?
