Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

P...please, do not tell anyone you saw my...[Her voice is a whisper, but a nervous one that Plumeria can easily still hear.] I am trying not to let anyone know I am not human!

[...Ah. This one's trying to actually hide her inhumanity from the rest of them. It's obvious from the way Flayn claps her hands over her ears to hide them, which doesn't get much of a reaction from Plumeria, but the rest of that...]

...I won't. That's nobody's business but yours, isn't it? You can keep pretending to be a human if that will help you.

[Plumeria waves it off easily. Kindness like this from Plumeria is...stiff, at best. But sometimes you need to keep your secrets. That much she can understand, even if...Plumeria has made no secret of most aspects of her life...but still!]

[Hesitantly lowering her hands. It's shifted her hair a bit that, yep, them's some pointy ears.]

[That's like, an understatement of the actual issue, but it's close enough for now.]

[Just as Plumeria expected. Still, she doesn't have much if any reaction to them; they simply exist as they are, just like the individual in front of her. Still, it's...gonna feel strange keeping a secret from Lady Freyja, but it's fine, right?

She can act like she's forgotten, if it ever comes up.]

Don't mention it; I can see where it'd be a difficult subject. You should be able to take a swim without having to worry about that.

[Not Plum's circus, not her monkeys. Plumeria lies back down in the pool, though, staring up at the stars.]

I...I suppose I shall. Never have I encountered a pool of water like this before. [And if no one else is around to make observations...well, then it's safe, right?

Flayn dips under the water again, gliding underneath Plumeria with plenty of space in between before emerging on the other side with a relieved sigh. Yep, the water's swept back her hair, those are some pointy ears alright.]

To think people are able to simply swim for fun in this world! And on a ship no less...

[Plumeria definitely feels the shifting of the water when Flayn swims underneath--it's a little startling, but Plumeria does find herself with the smallest of smiles on her face. It's...strange, honestly. Plumeria's so used to keeping people at arms length, and even her rapport with Triandra was laced with nothing but bitching and moaning.

...It's probably not important. Plumeria perks when Flayn comes up, and sure enough, Plumeria's guess was on the money. Certainly not as pronounced as her own ears, but those are definitely not human ears.]

I guess it does sound kind of silly, when you put it like that. [Plumeria is basically just looking at Flayn upsidedown at this point, but even so, it's nice to have a conversation like this.] Surrounded by all of this water, and yet we want to put ourselves in another pool of it entirely.

But there is something relaxing about it, don't you agree?

There is! It probably helps that the ocean tides do not influence this pool in the same way as swimming in the actual ocean would.

[Nothing can pull you into an undertow when you're in a contained pool with no turbulent currents.]

Do you think it is, perhaps, considered a luxury? Even by people native to this world? Or can anyone participate?

[Ah, that would help, wouldn't it? Plumeria figured that the lack of ocean life squirming around would probably help matters some as well, but the lack of a risk of drowning helps.]

They likely are. Most of the dreams I see that involve these involve them being property of humans opened to the public, with those having their own being of some level of affluence and prestige.

[Even if it's just like, middle class or something. That's about the nicest way Plumeria can describe it.]

So it is perhaps a little bit of both. But it does seem like owning such a thing is a luxury that very few humans can afford.

[Flayn hums, gliding along in the water as she thinks about this.]

...When you say dreams, do you really mean...real dreams? That happen when others sleep?

Yes, I do. [No sense in beating around the bush about it--it's something Plumeria takes pride in, after all.] We Álfar oversee all sorts of dreams. Is it so odd to hear?

[Plumeria's tone isn't offended! It's honestly curious.]

A bit, but only because I have never met anyone who could do so before. It must be interesting. Though...because you get to be in the dreams, does that mean you do not have to sleep?

[Oh...Plumeria manages a small chuckle at that, shaking her head.]

Not quite, but I can see where you came to that conclusion. We need rest just as much as anyone else, though we don't need it nearly as much as others. Lady Freyja has ensured that much.
