Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

[Huh. It's strangely nice to hear someone so passionate. Then again, he is acknowledging that he doesn't want to disappoint Lady Freyja, so at the very least, Plumeria can approve of that much.]

Well, one certainly can't deny the amount of passion that you're putting into it. [...That's meant to be a compliment, she promises, but it's definitely a little stiff.] It's good to see, though. I'm sure that they'll all be pleased with it.

[She'll let him get back to his routine--going to take a seat nearby rather than go into the pool, but...well, she is curious, if nothing else.]

...What made you decide to dedicate yourself to something like this, anyway?

[Plumeria's improved mood doesn't go unnoticed by Sylvando, and he's pleased to see her lacking that sour demeanor from their first encounter. But he's sure she'd have a Reaction if he pointed this out to her, so he'll just smile to himself about it.]

That's my hope, anyway! Ir would be terribly embarrassing for me if I failed at my job, eh?

[He comes to a stop once Plumeria raises that question. That's something that requires his full attention to answer!]

Honestly? It just came to me, the day I saw the circus for the very first time. I was absolutely captivated by their performances, and their dedication to bringing smiles and cheer to their audience. It's like a light went off in my head and I just knew. That's what I wanted to do with my life too.

[He's almost a little wistful as he recalls that day. It really does feel like it was so long ago already.]

[Good call, Sylv, that's just how Plum works because she's fuckin' stupid like that.

...But gods, that's. That's so genuinely pure? Plumeria blinks a few times when she hears that, almost as if she's actually not sure what to think of that.]

...That's a remarkably pure-hearted reason.

[She isn't sure what she actually expected, but that wasn't it. Not that this is going to monumentally change her opinion of humanity but it is definitely something that gets a pause.]

It sounds like it went better for you than most flight of fancies turn out to be. It's not often that people are able to find something they desire and stay on that path without erring from it.

Human desires, from my experience with seeing them? Are about as fickle and disgusting as they get. They flit from one thing to the next without heed, constantly seeking out pleasure. Just to throw it all away when they've gotten their fill, and move onto something else.

[Plumeria looks back to Sylvando at that.]

...It really is rare to see a human with such selfless motivations.

[Ah... That certainly explains a lot about Plumeria's initial reaction to him, their first day on the ship.]

Oh, honey... I'm so sorry that you've had to see so much of the worst that we have to offer. There are some terrible people out there, and I'm certainly not going to defend them, oh no. Sometimes, they can be shown the errors of their actions, but...well, other times the best that you can do is to help those that they have made victims of.

But it's probably not that simple for you, eh?

[Ugh. Even with someone she can acknowledge as at least slightly different than most humans, something about sympathy for such a situation from a human still makes her angry. It's not as if she hasn't experienced it here; with Yeager, it felt insincere at best, and Jasper had made the mistake of making light of such things. He was very lucky that there wasn't a physical altercation.

...Even so, it...is nice to hear that Sylvando's not coming to their defense, and is making an effort to understand. It does result in Plumeria just...staring for a solid few seconds in silence, not even sure what to say, but...]

...No, it really isn't. We do need even those humans dreams to sustain ourselves, after all, and...we don't exactly get to choose what we see. It's not all sunshine and happy dreams like it is in Ljósálfheimr, after all.
