Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

[ Alice gives Reika a look. She’s not been even remotely amused about the prospect of having a roommate, and has been trying to make that clearly known by more or less ignoring her when they’re in their shared space. If they’re really going to be here as long as Davy and the Captain claims they are, then maybe she should try to be somewhat civil, but… she’s not exactly in the mood for that right now.

She rolls her eyes, turning her attentions back to the water below. ]

Why not? I’m sure whatever’s down there will love the attention.

[Reika's not exactly amused either--she'd rather have Jack or no one at all--but she honestly doesn't hate it, either. Alice was a convenient alibi at the very least.

She shrugs even if she knows it won't be seen.]

Littering is rude. [But by the tone of her voice it's clear that she doesn't actually care.]

I’m sure one little wrapper won’t hurt. Nothing’s happened that says otherwise, at least.

[ Her tone gets a little lighter once she realizes Reika doesn’t care, but she doesn’t really move from her position, beyond getting out another package of Oreos. ]

I figured you’d have gone back to the room by now. And just what are you out so late for~?

[There's a laugh there. She knows there will be more.]

I could say the same about you. I'm just used to staying up, I suppose.

[ She looks back at Reika for a moment, before turning back to the ocean. ]

I dunno. Just killing time, I guess? Sitting around waiting for something to happen isn’t exactly working for me anymore.

[ Also, she doesn’t know it yet, but she’s also working on making Decus’ life worse by staying out later and fucking with his sleep schedule even more. But she’d be doing the same thing even if she did know. ]

[The poor kraken is going to have some unhealthy habits. Not that she cares.]

Are you going to try to make something happen, then?

[ Hey, it’s better than her suggesting they drop one of the vending machines in the water! ]

If you mean whether I’m gonna kill someone or not, then I haven’t decided. It seems like kind of a chore to have to go through all that, you know~?

[It's okay, she's just thinking of the poor monster.]

I agree. It must be so much more convenient having someone on the ship who'd jump for the chance to take the fall.

[Said with the most angelic smile.]

[ She giggles. ]

It really is. It certainly takes quite the load off my shoulders, to be sure. Compared to the other things I’ve made him do, killing one person would be pretty inconsequential.

[ is it really making him do those things if he was willing...? eh, whatever. ]

[She gives a giggle of her own. She might not know the details but using people who think they love you wasn't something new.]

Ah, so that's how it is. I thought it might be. People do many cruel things for love... though, I doubt you share the same feelings.

[She's similar to other people Reika knew. It was almost refreshing.]

I'd say that I feel sorry for him but we both know I'd be lying.

[ A look of surprise flashes across Alice’s face for a brief moment. She was half expecting to get admonished for saying that, somehow, but… it’s actually super refreshing not to? ]

Oh, even if you were, there’s no reason to feel sorry at all. He knows what he’s in for when he decides to hang off me like he does. If he’s willing to sell his soul and not look back just because I say to, then who am I to not take full advantage of that? I certainly don’t care about his feelings on the matter.

[The problem is that to admonish someone means you have to think they're doing something wrong. Is Alice doing something wrong? By social standards, incredibly but that was the way of the world. Decus seemed to realize in some form yet he had openly threatened her about Alice.

That means it wasn't Reika's business to judge.]

Well, as long as he knows it. There always is a chance that you won't get back what you give, after all.

[A pause.] The general 'you', I mean. It's none of my business.

I figured. I have no intention in leading anyone to believe otherwise.

[ She hums, glancing at Reika. ]

What about you? Obviously you don’t have the advantage that I do, but that doesn’t make it any less difficult to just sit here and do nothing.

Well, that's good.

[She shrugs. She's good at waiting.]

What can I say? I'm a mother, that means I have a great deal of patience. Something is bound to happen--I just have to plan for it.
