WEEK 1

Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
FRIDAY | SATURDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to peace week! Feel free to mingle (and investigate, if you like) to your hearts' content! Please ensure all investigation toplevels are marked accordingly, and otherwise enjoy! If you wish to talk to The Captain or Davy Jones, look here for the former and here for the latter! ]

The Bermuda Triangle?

[John peers over at the book Filbo has brought.]

Well, that would certainly explain quite a few things. What's the X and the question mark for, you reckon?
ahelpingpaw: (outta there I was so tired and hungry)

[personal profile] ahelpingpaw 2021-01-27 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Find the hypotenuse of that triangle?

[Filbo chuckles without much enthusiasm. He has no idea what those scribbles mean]

I dunno, but it's all in marker, it wasn't printed on the book. Someone went and drew it for some reason. The Captain, probably.

Maybe the Captain's secretly an occult treasurer hunter.

[He's joking, but whatever it is, it's probably not good.]
ahelpingpaw: (Cuz -- you know --)

[personal profile] ahelpingpaw 2021-01-27 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
His profile does say he likes finding loot. It's not impossible.

[And if it turns out the Captain just is going to go find a treasure and for some reason it involves them killing each other because the chest needs a few souls to open, well, that will be upsetting]
cethflayn: (spooked!)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-01-27 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Flayn has like, nothing to contribute, but she would like to see the book as well.]

What sort of superstitions apply to this Bermuda Triangle?
ahelpingpaw: (A-and by the time I dragged myself)

[personal profile] ahelpingpaw 2021-01-27 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Sea serpents! Ships and planes going missing, and all sorts of monsters. It's a place you want to avoid no matter what.

[...]

I dunno if this world we're in is a place where that all is true, but in mine it's not really that dangerous of a place. Just a lot of water.
onlyyoucan: Tense, surprised; receiving a psychic call. (listen to your local doll)

[personal profile] onlyyoucan 2021-01-27 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
If Mr. Constantine is correct, we've got the sea serpents down, and we're definitely missing and on a ship. ...what is a monster in your world, exactly?

[It's probably a rude question...]
ahelpingpaw: (A-and by the time I dragged myself)

[personal profile] ahelpingpaw 2021-01-27 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno at this point. Big reptiles, mostly. These big mysterious things that in the end turn out to be something else and very much not alive.

[Lost football mascots, too]

onlyyoucan: Disturbed, worried. (i have a bad feeling about this)

[personal profile] onlyyoucan 2021-01-27 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have anything other than old stories, either.
cethflayn: (let me present an option to you)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-01-27 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
But if you do not know if it is true, then we also do not know if it is not true.

[Which means, sea serpents????? Yes???? Big snakey friends!!!]
ahelpingpaw: (But then I threw up)

[personal profile] ahelpingpaw 2021-01-27 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That's...okay, you're right.

[You can't beat circular logic like that]
hypnowhip: (💖 wait...)

[personal profile] hypnowhip 2021-01-27 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hmmmm!

Sylvando will worry about what planes are later...]

Erdrea has such a location, though it is called The Strand. It is a location out at sea that is shrouded in fog, and sea vessels often drift into it and become lost. While I was traveling with the Luminary, we ended up lost in there ourselves!

I certainly wouldn't consider it safe by any means, since we came across monsters and shipwrecks in there, but it wasn't impossible to escape from! We even ended up going back there a few times.
ahelpingpaw: (I can't make it on my own.)

[personal profile] ahelpingpaw 2021-01-27 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Why would you go back in there?

[Why someone would willingly go into a dangerously supernatural place once? Filbo doesn't know, but it's forgivable because maybe it happens by accident. Going several times? That doesn't seem great]
hypnowhip: (💖 neutral)

[personal profile] hypnowhip 2021-01-27 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it wasn't all doom and gloom! We met a lovely mermaid by the name of Michelle there, and helped her reunite with a man who escaped the Strand in the past.

[He...seems a little melancholy about that, truth be told. It was very much a bittersweet quest.]

[personal profile] ahelpingpaw 2021-01-27 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
That's actually kinda nice!

[Filbo seems really touched. Aw, that's great! Okay, for something like that, going into a dangerously supernatural place really can be worth it.

Once.

Because seriously, that still is not a great place to be in, be careful with your lives]

[He hears all the talk about monsters in the water, and:]

How is that different from any other big bodies of water?
ahelpingpaw: (when I was looking for Lizbert)

[personal profile] ahelpingpaw 2021-01-27 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Bodies of water aren't known for having a lot of monsters...only that part of the sea and one lake are rumored to have them, and it's not even proven true!

[sure would suck if every big body of water was infested with nasty creatures sinking ships and bringing horror to wary explorers]
silentscout: (58)

[personal profile] silentscout 2021-01-27 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You're really sheltered if you think that. Are you from Iceland or something?

[Because Iceland is full of BABIES who can't handle the real world, or so Lalli thinks.]

Hmm. This Bermuda Triangle stuff sounds pretty convenient for what we've got, but does it change, like... time? Or the stars? Does it teleport people around?

[She's just saiyan. There's some baffling bullshit going on here and then there's the sea monsters and look, she's done her digital homework but paper books aren't as much her priority so far.

She should probably get to it....... eventually.]

I don't really feel missing. Just kinda kidnapped still.

[personal profile] ltcommandroid 2021-01-27 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Ships were once rumored to disappear mysteriously when they entered the Bermuda triangle. But that did not happen out of proportion when compared to any other part of the ocean - it was simply one of the most heavily traveled shipping lanes, when ships were still a common mode mode of commercial transport.

[though it's star trek so maybe there's a borg living down there or something idk]
scouserer: (04)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-01-27 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Didja forget the part about the sea monsters, love?

[Not everyone comes from a magic-infested world, Constantine.]
ltcommandroid: (himitsu wo shiri tai)

[personal profile] ltcommandroid 2021-01-27 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
That was a part of the folklore, but Earth's oceans are fully charted by my time.

[they just missed Bermuda of Borg]

Several deep-sea species may qualify as "sea monsters", but they are shy of human contact and unlikely to approach the surface. Much less to attack a ship.
scouserer: (05)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-01-27 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
How'd you explain the thing that flung me back up to the ship, then? Another robot? 'Friendly' giant squid?

[Probably a borg down there.]

Then why would it have garnered such a reputation? Surely something about the area made it more prone to such happenings than others.
