Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

[Freyja has found herself coming up to the pool to swim at night; it's calming, something to do while she considers things, and it's far preferable to do anything at all that isn't just lying on her bunk staring at the wall.

So she'll make her way up there, dressed in the bikini with no regards or care for modesty, and...oh. Oh, that's...it's interesting, to be sure, and she'll find herself watching from a spot near the stairs for a while, and she just kind of stares at him for a long moment when he stops and acknowledges her.

She hesitates for a long moment before reaching out to take the hand being extended to her, delicately, stepping forward a bit as she does so.]

...I would love to.

[Between Sylvando's tie-dye outfit and Freyja's dixie cup bikini, they are a dancing pair made in 90's hell and he couldn't be happier. Honestly, it's nice to see Freyja with all the thorns and frills. It also makes dancing with her far less dangerous, so that's good!

That said, he's beyond pleased to have Freyja's acceptance.]

Yay~! I promise I won't hold you up from your pool time for too long. [He just as delicately holds onto her hand as she closes the distance.] Are you familiar with any forms of dance?

[About the one unfortunate thing about this is like. The lack of heels, maybe, because you are a full foot taller than she is good sir. But that's fine, she can manage.]

If it wouldn't be out of place in a ballroom, I can follow. After all, I've had quite the long time to learn.

[Sylvando is happy to accommodate the height difference as best as he can. He hadn't even really noticed just how tiny Freyja is before, but it's pretty obvious now that they're so close and preparing to do a bit of ballroom dancing.]

Wonderful! I'll get us going, then.

[He gently brings his other hand to Freyja's back and once she's ready to go, he begins the basic steps of a ballroom dance with plans to ramp it up once they get into a rhythm. It'd be nicer with some accompanying music, buuut they'll make do.]

Are parties a regular thing in Dökkálfheimr's palace? [He's assuming she has one, considering...queen and all.] Or do you throw them more for special occasions?

[She'll bring her free hand up to rest gently on his upper arm, near the shoulder; it isn't difficult for her to settle into a pattern - she does know how to follow - and from her posture it's clear that this sort of thing isn't foreign to her at least. She doesn't have her head turned away like one would for competitive ballroom, but she's straight without being overly rigid, and her touch is light without clinging or obviously demanding to be guided.]

They're largely for special occasions; the dawn of the new year is an important one to us, incidentally. I suppose that's what made me think of it - if it truly is the new year here, we ought to greet it well.

[It's actually a peaceful little rhythm they've gotten into. Sylvando's glad to be able to just dance with a partner and not have to put too much thought into it since Freyja knows exactly what's going on.]

That makes perfect sense to me! It's a big deal in Erdrea as well, so I usually have some sort of celebration to perform for. I'm very happy to get to continue that tradition with this one.

[This is nice, isn't it. ...Sylvando is also literally the only person she's allowed to touch her like at all, so. Feel special.]

What is it like? Erdrea.

[Oh my god. WELL...HE DOES.]

It's a bright, beautiful place, with so many unique and diverse locations. There's the lovely hills of Heliodor, the sweltering Celestial Sands with the entertainment oasis of Gallopolis smack dab in the center, the lush mountain village of Hotto, the beautiful port towns of Gondolia and Puerto Valor... [He cuts himself off there, laughing lightly.] Goodness, we would be here all night if I went into detail! But the most important landmark of all is Yggdrasil. It is a massive tree that watches over all of Erdrea, and it is the source of all life.

[His smile turns a little subdued.]

Erdrea is currently recovering from a great calamity, so it has sustained a lot of damage. There is much for us to rebuild, but the renewed hope of those picking up the pieces is just as beautiful as the world itself.

...It sounds wonderful.

[It really does; she'd listened with rapt attention, and the notion of a place so diverse seems at the same time foreign and lovely. She isn't sure about the mention of hope - it's something that tends to be a fickle sentiment in humans - but that's...probably fine.]

I find it interesting that you have some iteration of the World Tree - Yggdrasil is the connecting thread between the nine realms, or so I've heard.

[Sylvando's expression brightens...more than usual, anyway.]

At first I couldn't even imagine another place without it! Still, the nine realms is a new concept... Is Dökkálfheimr one of them?

The realm I inhabit is split into two - I hold dominion over Dökkálfheimr, while my brother Freyr rules over Ljósálfheimr. Together our kingdoms compose one realm as a whole.

[Two kingdoms with siblings as the rulers...that's so unique! It must be a pretty small realm though, now that he thinks of it.]

I see! What are the two kingdoms like?

Ljósálfheimr is bright and peaceful, with meadows eternally blooming with flowers and growing tall with wild grasses; the castle is led up to with large stone steps, and it contains many mirrored hallways; it's surrounded by pools of water fed into by tall waterfalls. There's always sunlight there, regardless of the time of day.

Dökkálfheimr, my kingdom, is always enshrouded by the night, but it isn't dismal by any means - the moon is always large and full in the sky above, and the fields glow with the light of the magic imbued into our plants and soil. Your way can be lit by the trees alone, where they grow thick and blossom low to the earth, and while the stars are dim and seem far away, they're there if you seek them out.

Our realms are connected by a forest that serves as a gateway, branches entwined high overhead. It's...lovely, really. All of it.

[Sylvando closes his eyes as they dance and Freyja goes into detail about the twin lands, imagining them based on her description. By the time she's done, he has a dreamy sort of expression on his face.]

It does sound positively lovely. Now you've got me wishing I could see it for myself! It's probably not a place many mortals can venture right into though, is it?
