Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

[Sylvando is up bright and early as always, hopefully not to too much detriment to his roommate. Thankfully he moves onto the bathroom in the living quarters quickly enough, where he can be found meticulously doing his hair before her properly faces the day. He also deigned to put on one of those ridiculous tie-dye ensembles today, which he absolutely loves.

The party zone is where he spends a good chunk of his day. If he's going to be doing a performance in here, he needs to start planning it out! He can be found doing a variety of things: taking measurements, counting out all the streamers and other decorations, glancing up at the chandeliers with a thoughtful expression, jotting down notes, and collecting party poppers.

Once he's had enough performance planning for the day, he stops for dinner and then makes his way up to the top deck to...practice! Steering clear of the slippery pool area, he dances underneath the glittering night sky, taking in the cool ocean breeze as he goes. His movements are light and graceful, full of twirls and leaps. Anyone is free to watch him go, but he'll stop his humming and extend a hand out toward those who seem particularly into what he's doing.]

[Zaveid has definitely noticed Sylvando around; the guy does stick out, but it's taken him a while to actually approach the man.]

You look like you've got some plans in mind around here.

[Given the Captain's plans, Zaveid actually sounds like he's looking forward to something that hopefully doesn't involve people killing each other.]

[Sylvando offers Zaveid a little wave when he enters the party zone, and goes about his business until he's addressed.]

Not just me! Lady Freyja and Filbo are planning a lovely little get-together on Saturday, and have asked me to perform! I thought I'd do some recon on the venue and start brewing some ideas for my act.

[sivard]

[Zaveid's expression brightens.]

Sounds wonderful! We could use some cheer around here, given the Captain's plans.

My thoughts exactly!! I know we have a lot of ground to cover still, but we can't wear ourselves out too quickly. A little playtime does wonders for morale!

[Freyja has found herself coming up to the pool to swim at night; it's calming, something to do while she considers things, and it's far preferable to do anything at all that isn't just lying on her bunk staring at the wall.

So she'll make her way up there, dressed in the bikini with no regards or care for modesty, and...oh. Oh, that's...it's interesting, to be sure, and she'll find herself watching from a spot near the stairs for a while, and she just kind of stares at him for a long moment when he stops and acknowledges her.

She hesitates for a long moment before reaching out to take the hand being extended to her, delicately, stepping forward a bit as she does so.]

...I would love to.

[Between Sylvando's tie-dye outfit and Freyja's dixie cup bikini, they are a dancing pair made in 90's hell and he couldn't be happier. Honestly, it's nice to see Freyja with all the thorns and frills. It also makes dancing with her far less dangerous, so that's good!

That said, he's beyond pleased to have Freyja's acceptance.]

Yay~! I promise I won't hold you up from your pool time for too long. [He just as delicately holds onto her hand as she closes the distance.] Are you familiar with any forms of dance?

[About the one unfortunate thing about this is like. The lack of heels, maybe, because you are a full foot taller than she is good sir. But that's fine, she can manage.]

If it wouldn't be out of place in a ballroom, I can follow. After all, I've had quite the long time to learn.

[Sylvando is happy to accommodate the height difference as best as he can. He hadn't even really noticed just how tiny Freyja is before, but it's pretty obvious now that they're so close and preparing to do a bit of ballroom dancing.]

Wonderful! I'll get us going, then.

[He gently brings his other hand to Freyja's back and once she's ready to go, he begins the basic steps of a ballroom dance with plans to ramp it up once they get into a rhythm. It'd be nicer with some accompanying music, buuut they'll make do.]

Are parties a regular thing in Dökkálfheimr's palace? [He's assuming she has one, considering...queen and all.] Or do you throw them more for special occasions?

Party Zone

Hey, leave some poppers for me!

[Filbo has been coming and going from the party zone before Sylvando arrived, trying to be subtle about what he's taking from there -- but when he finds Sylvando collecting them, well, he has to ask.

The first couple days Filbo seemed kind of muted despite the friendliness, but right now? Right now he's pretty much beaming. He has a party to work on, after all. Having this big goal ahead is all the motivation he needs to tackle things head-on these days]

[It's been great to see! He's so pleased to see others managing to stay upbeat despite what the Captain has looming over their heads.]

Oops! Sorry, Filby! [Filbo has already earned a pet name.] I thought they might provide some good effects for my act. I suppose we really have been going through them though, haven't we...?

[Filby! Well that's a new one. Sure, why not? If it makes Sylvando happy, he's more than willing to accept it, he thinks]

That'll be fantastic! It's gonna be great, I know it!

[It's good to see someone else is working hard. There's nothing like doing your best!]

Sorry, if you need more maybe I can spare a few. I'm just preparing something noisy, but I'm sure I can deal with having less than I expected.

I'm more than happy to work with the leftovers, so don't worry about that!

[He hands over what he's collected for now. In the end, he'll really only need like two or three.]

But now you've got me very curious about what you're planning to craft! I can't wait to see it!

[Jasper enters the bathroom in his bathrobe just as Sylvando's probably just about finished, and gives the whole ensemble... a look...]

I suppose it is not much of a surprise that you are wearing that.

[hypnowhip]

[He swears, Jasper is going to be the toughest nut to crack here. That scowl is going to become permanent on his face at this point!!

Sylvando takes this in stride though, offering Jasper an exaggerated pose that really accentuates the garish outfit.]

Well, obviously! It's perfect for a jester like me!

[He doesn’t quite smile, but it’s enough to keep him from trying to needle more on that front, so he’ll just ]

Really, it seems you had all the luck here. I would really rather not wear the same outfit every other day...

[He offers a sympathetic laugh.]

You've got a point there. The offerings here are really not anything I could picture you in...except maybe the suit? Or is that the other one you've been switching between?

Actually, better question. You haven't been donning the full armor still, have you?

[Plumeria's honestly just here going through the deck to swim at night, more than prepared to just vibe with the stars and not give a damn. Of course, that's easier said than done when there's others, and especially when they're doing interesting things.

So here she is, watching for only a bit in her gaudy grandma swimsuit, before deciding to speak up.]

...Are you practicing some kind of routine for the party that Lady Freyja and Mayor Fiddlepie are organizing?

[It's a bit awkward, honestly, but she is curious.]

[Sylvando's going to notice a pattern with the fairies and their nightly swimming routines at this point... He definitely appreciates the gaudy grandma swimsuit, though.

When Plumeria addresses him, he comes to a stop mid-twirl, conveniently facing in her direction.]

You got it, honey! I like to dance for fun too, but now I need to make sure I'm in top form for the party. I'd hate to give you all anything less than my best, but especially Lady Freyja and Filby!

[Since they invited him to perform and all.]

[Huh. It's strangely nice to hear someone so passionate. Then again, he is acknowledging that he doesn't want to disappoint Lady Freyja, so at the very least, Plumeria can approve of that much.]

Well, one certainly can't deny the amount of passion that you're putting into it. [...That's meant to be a compliment, she promises, but it's definitely a little stiff.] It's good to see, though. I'm sure that they'll all be pleased with it.

[She'll let him get back to his routine--going to take a seat nearby rather than go into the pool, but...well, she is curious, if nothing else.]

...What made you decide to dedicate yourself to something like this, anyway?

[Plumeria could probably stand to word that better, but she is curious about why he decided to become what he is, really.]

[Plumeria's improved mood doesn't go unnoticed by Sylvando, and he's pleased to see her lacking that sour demeanor from their first encounter. But he's sure she'd have a Reaction if he pointed this out to her, so he'll just smile to himself about it.]

That's my hope, anyway! Ir would be terribly embarrassing for me if I failed at my job, eh?

[He comes to a stop once Plumeria raises that question. That's something that requires his full attention to answer!]

Honestly? It just came to me, the day I saw the circus for the very first time. I was absolutely captivated by their performances, and their dedication to bringing smiles and cheer to their audience. It's like a light went off in my head and I just knew. That's what I wanted to do with my life too.

[He's almost a little wistful as he recalls that day. It really does feel like it was so long ago already.]

[ ... Well, seeing his room mate who seemed so excited about the party and putting on a show already practicing wasn't a surprise. It was more the offer.

Risotto will stare at the hand like he knew not what to do with it. He won't take it. ]

I'll simply watch for now, and if you simply decided you were done either way, it is what it is. Either way, I'm not the type of person to 'dance' in my spare time.

[ Unless it was a different kind of dancing being talked about here. ]

I assume you're doing this to prepare for the festivities. Or is this just for fun?

[Ahhh, well if it isn't his roomie! Sylvando's not that surprised to be turned down, and he doesn't take any offense to it. He just goes right back to it.]

Suit yourself! I'm not done yet, so you're more than welcome to keep watching if you want.

[An audience always makes things more fun, even if it's an audience of one.

He keeps up the conversation even while dancing, though he has to take more pauses to breathe.]

Bit of both, really? I dance whether I've got an upcoming performance or not, but this session does have some more purpose behind it.

Well, they didn't really have much else to do. Other than maybe prepare for the party...which he supposed he'll be attending for the exact same reason why he was hanging out here in the first place. ]

More purpose because it's partially to help with ensuring you're prepared, I assume. [ ... ] Incidentally, what did convince you to get into dancing in the first place?

[As for Risotto's question about dancing...]

It was part of my training once I joined up with the circus, and it really resonated with me because of the amount of emotion you can put into each number. I was already very good on my feet thanks to my upbringing, so that helped!
