Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

Humans die very easily. Which isn't precisely an asset when doing something for an indeterminate amount of time.

[Like, she imagines the Captain is at least more likely to have a heart attack and die than Lord Davy over there.]

Besides, humans care not for the laws of whatever realm they currently inhabit, while those that are otherwise tend to be aware of and abide by those laws. Gestures of goodwill mean something to them and are less likely to be violated. Pacts and understandings, too, are the same. Humans will gladly stab one another in the back if it pleases them.

What makes you think that all nonhumans follow those same rules? Do you all truly never betray one another?

Of course not. We do all have our own personalities; "untrustworthy" is certainly a fair one to have. Although if you choose to trust those proven to be untrustworthy, that seems more of a personal issue that requires at least some self-reflection.

Your point about humans being particularly frail is a fair one though, I'll grant you that! Mr. Jones doesn't seem likely to keel over dead any time soon.

Even if your argument regarding trustworthiness is true, I still trust him more than I do the Captain, at least.

I wonder how long he can do this until he gets bored.

I doubt any of it is. He has the foresight to plan out all of this little game he's set us to, but not enough to verify that his machinery works?

I suppose it is possible he's that careless or stupid, but that seems extremely unlikely. All of this seems more like it was planned.

Unfortunately, we have far too little to go off of right now. I do think that the show that was put on for us was an act, but I have no idea why just yet. There's so much about our Captain and Mr. Jones that we don't know... not to mention everything about how we got here!

I have yet to hold any sort of audience with the Captain; he seems a bit...much.

[Lord Davy is somehow not "a bit much", but we've covered that one already.]

I do have questions for him, however. So I suppose I should eventually.

Ja, I do think it would be useful to talk to him... But really, I doubt there are many of us who will be able to get anything from him. He seems like a difficult person to deal with...

He is far too serious for this sort of thing. And perhaps most importantly, he would never want anyone to think he's incompetent.
