Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

Oh, does it...?

[You know, there's usually seltzer and like. ginger ale back here at least, let's try adding some of that to some of this, hmmm...]

I've tried the drinks directly from the cans from the machines, and they were a bit strong, admittedly.

[Try that? ...Between them I'm pretty sure they just invented a Cinderella. Good job, girls.]

Oh, I have not tried the canned drinks yet! Are they truly strong? Maybe I would be better off leaving them be.

[The bottled drinks at least have, like. Water.

Sips the new creation...Flayn hums in approval and nods!]

This is delicious! It has...citrus fruit juice in it, yes? That is actually quite handy to have on a ship.

It does. The humans become ill when they don't consume certain things, do they not?

[She's not too familiar about it, but she has the vaguest concept of malnutrition.]

That is right! The citrus prevents illness. My mother taught me that.

Was your mother the seafaring sort, then...?

She was very knowledgeable about the ocean.

[Whether that meant she had a sailing background or family in the business or just grew up by the ocean? Who knows, IntSys may never tell us.]

It is because of her that I love it so.

Oh... It's good that you can enjoy the vessel, then, if not the full experience.

[It seems nice, anyway? She hums a little bit before continuing.]

I've never seen it for myself before all of this. I've witnessed the dreams of mortals that sometimes involve such things, but it's different in person.

You have never seen the real sea before this? Only in dreams?

[There's a pause.]

How does it measure up to what you experienced?

It's much more beautiful in person. The sunset and the view of the stars are without compare.

[That much is prompt.]

It...smells different than I expected. And no one really considers the ship rolling quite so much on the waves, perhaps because they're already used to it. But it's been...nice, all things considered.

What did you expect it to smell like?

[It's lots and lots of salty water, what else should it smell like?]

Ah, even so, I am glad you are enjoying your first experience with the sea.

I wasn't sure. We have flowing water in the realm I came from, of course, but nothing like this - and scent doesn't tend to feature heavily in dreams.

[It's so salty, Flayn. It isn't bad! Just. Salt everywhere.]

It certainly is enjoyable, however. Strange though it is.

Isn't it? I find the smell soothing and very nostalgic.
