Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

[ Interesting! So there aren't a lot of history books, and even fewer geography books, but first off all of them (and all the books in here) were published before 1990 and there are definitely inconsistencies in the history books! Is she focusing on anything in particular? ]

[Well, first of all, she's searching for mentions of Pokemon in general, as well as if there's any mention about Mt. Ebott. She doesn't expect any actual information about the monsters, it having been so long ago, but the mountain itself was famous enough in rumors. Between the books, she's mainly looking at dates for wars, as well as the founding of various countries. She's also going to just compare the maps against each other in general for differences in continent shape/country borders/names.]

[ The majority of the books match real world events pretty accurately! There's one or two books that seem to reflect each world you all come from, at least those with advanced enough technology to have this sort of book - those are all sort of in one clump on one of the shelves and not labelled, like they were added in later. ]

[Huh. She might have to ask about that later. Are the books from other worlds also only from up to 1990, or is there more variation there?]

There is, however, one book kind of weirdly out of place in with the other nonfiction. ]

[Oh? What's this standout book about, then?]

[ It's a book about supernatural stuff. Ghosts, mostly - there's even a (admittedly noticeably inaccurate, given you've met him) little section about Davy Jones himself! ]

[Huh. Who's the author of this one? And do they have anything about other ocean ghosts?]

[ The author is Joan Hillford, an older woman from California who, according to the About the Author, has appeared on several reputable television shows about ghost hunting and in her youth used to be a ghost hunter herself! She now lives north of San Francisco with three cats, one husband, and two children.

This is all to say the author is probably irrelevant, but there's her bio in case you're curious!

There's some other stuff about ocean ghosts, but nothing else particularly relevant to the investigation, I'm afraid. There is, however, a small explanation of an area known as the Bermuda Triangle that might be of interest? ]

[Okay, so probably not ghostwritten by Davy Jones to provide deliberate misinformation. And oh yeah, probably. She'll look into that triangle in more detail.]

[ Probably not, no!

So it's very.... Ghost Book about it, which is to say it offers theories ranging from "abnormal magnetism" to "literal angels" to "the lost city of Atlantis" as to why, but the general conclusion is The Bermuda Triangle is a part of the ocean notorious for ships disappearing without a trace, sometimes reappearing years later, and no one knows for sure why.

A general description of the Earth concept, basically, for those among the cast who don't know what it is! ]

[ Nothing quite that detailed, but the author does make it seem like a wild number have. But then again there is also at least one paragraph of supporting evidence that the missing boats (and planes) have all ended up in Atlantis. If you want scientific details or statistics about the Bermuda Triangle, this isn't it.
