Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

That book... where did you get it?

[Oh thank goodness, someone to distract him from this book. He hurries to look away from it, closing the book to avoid reading the descriptions inside]

It was inside that special vending machine. I was there, putting coins in, when this popped out! It's...a really ominous machine, if it's giving things like this book.

I am inclined to agree, if it's given you that particular book.

[She steps up closer, frowning.]

Though, I wonder how the machine here acquired this, given that it's from Auntie Whispers personal collection. Unless... it somehow ended up here in the same manner that the rest of us have?

[Filbo really hurries to give it back, please take it to your aunt and never let him see it ever again]

The Captain better not have gone around stealing stuff from our families. Still, why to put it in that machine instead of leaving it in our room or something? Did he just not want that strange book any longer?

[Lorna takes the book back, offering a sheepish smile.]

Thank you. Auntie Whispers would be furious if she thought that she wasn't going to get this back.

I don't know. I suppose it is possible that the Captain... did not like the contents of this book and decided to put it into that strange machine, but then why take it to begin with? It is very odd.

Maybe he thought he'd find something about Davy Jones in there. Davy Jones would fit books like that one.

[Trying to joke a little, it seems -- but he can't deny Lorna has a good point there! What the heck, Captain, did you change your thievery ways all of a sudden?]

I... suppose he does resemble some beings that live in the Unknown, but I have not heard Auntie Whispers mentioning his name before, so I must assume that perhaps he is not from there... or is even more obscure than anyone Auntie Whispers knows.

Is Auntie Whispers knowledgeable about this kinda thing?

[Well, what do you think, Filbo, that tome is hers. She probably doesn't own it for kicks and giggles]

Ay. She knows many things about the Unknown and, for the most part, what to do in response to many things that live there too.

Not to say that there are not friendly entities within the Unknown, but there are also... frightening ones too that one must be careful of.

The world out there really is large and full of things...

[Compared to his own world, everyone's homes sounds so complicated out there, and that's after he realized that some potentially bizarre things happen in his own]

If what that book says is all true then staying away from the Unknown in general seems like a good idea. I wouldn't know what to do if I were in the middle of it -- leaving aside I can't make it on my own out there in the wilderness anyway.

[Lorna smiles rather awkwardly at that, because... man, how do you tell someone that your experience with the Unknown isn't exactly a choice in the matter. All she can say is:]

Yes... it would probably be best to try not to pass into the Unknown, lest you end up becoming lost if you're unfortunate enough to be traveling on your own in there.
