Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

Not...really!

[It's an endless expanse of water. True, the sunset itself is nice, but it's hard for Filbo to think it's a nice sight when you currently are on a ship that's moving without destination through the aforementioned endless expanse of water. It'd be better if he was standing on a beach or something.

Real cheerful, Filbo. At least his face doesn't show this kind of gloomy opinion about the view. There he is now, just arriving and leaning against the railing.

Well, if there's one thing that he can enjoy well enough is the wind. That's nice]

But it's another day behind us. That's something to be glad of, no?

[In this cruise ship where you're supposed to die, well, it really is something to be thankful about, he thinks]

[That gets a laugh out of him, anyway!! He turns back to look out toward the sunset as Filbo joins him, inclining his head a bit as he considers.]

Ja, agreed. I'm impressed everyone's been well-behaved so far.

[...never mind that constantine jumped off the side of the ship and he may have also broken a vending machine with yeager at some point?? listen, it's Fine.]

Did you think someone would be dead by now?

[Pretty straightforward question, really. Apparently Filbo's thoughts when commenting about everyone's good behavior went straight to the death part]

Hmm... I thought it was a possibility, but mostly I assumed that there'd be more in-fighting.

[Like sure, we don't get along very well, but this is going better than he expected.]

[Filbo actually laughs at that]

I know! I thought by now someone would have locked themselves in their room! Or tried to stock all the food from the vending machines all for themselves, or something else as drastic. You all get along better than I thought!

[He said he'd be surprised, and he is]

Or it could be you humans have some sort of way to make sure you stay alive and that's why nobody seems to be too worried about anything. Like...I dunno, venom?

[Are you humans able to use venom? Is that why you're all relatively carefree -- because you can use venom or something?]

Oh, I wish we were that dangerous!

[Can you imagine. It'd be horrible. He loves it.]

I think what it comes down to is that we're all a group of people who don't like to be told what to do. So being told our only way out of this situation is to kill has made us all particularly contrary! Even though we don't like each other, it's better to strike a temporary peace amongst ourselves than it is to trust the Captain.

Something like that, anyway.

[What was it Beffica had said to him during the last party...? 'These grumps aren't friends. They're just making nice because it's better than being alone'. It was true, really.

That's probably it here as well, really. Everyone's just pretending to be getting along because the alternative is just to sit around in their bedroom making no contact with anyone, waiting to be killed.

What else can he say but give the same response he had given back then:]

Sure, but who wants to be alone, right?

[Even the most asocial person around here must realize shutting themselves away would only make their situation worse]

If pretending to like each other is going to keep us alive, then let's do it. I like that you say we're all okay because we're defiant. In a way I guess staying alive is the best way to annoy the Captain, since he wants us to die.

I'm all for that, let him be annoyed.

Precisely. That's exactly the sort of thing we can all agree to. No matter how much we may dislike each other, at least we aren't the Captain!

[It reminds him of a particular group of meddling kids, honestly...]

Annoying the Captain certainly does sound fun, ja?

[If it wasn't because the Captain wanted them dead, Filbo would be far more inclined to try to keep things nice between everyone and the Captain, but...given the situation...he'd prefer to look to the other side if everyone else chooses to raise hell against that guy. While he doesn't really dislike the Captain because Filbo doesn't have it in him to hate someone, well, it's hard to really care about what the Captain thinks.]

Davy Jones, though...that one is harder to deal with, right? You can't just go and make him upset!

Hmm... I suppose you could upset him, but that seems like a terrible idea! He is quite a bit more accommodating and patient than I was expecting, though. He answered every question I had for him, and for those he couldn't answer, he was straightforward about it.

[So definitely not as bad as the Captain!!]

He's certainly a very interesting person!

What? Really? I...haven't really even tried to talk to him. I find him intimidating.

[Maybe at some point in the future, then...maybe trying to cross a word or two with Davy Jones is a decent idea]

What couldn't he talk about?

[Yeager nods at the first part; he's intimidating, but way more chill one-on-one? That conversation went better than expected, tbh.]

He couldn't tell me why the Captain has decided to have us all kill each other. He is aware of the Captain's plans - whatever those are - but he can't elaborate on those.

Does it seem like he's gaining anything from this? Like our souls or something?

[Does Davy Jones eat souls? Did he help bring so many different people here because he wanted to try souls from non-human people for a change?]

That is a good question, and one I hadn't considered.

[Hmm!! Bad!!]

The impression I got is that he's in a position where he has to work for the Captain regardless of what he'd like to do. But I don't know if that's exactly what's going on there, or how much more Mr. Jones will be able to tell us.

[Filbo watches the sunset in silence for a moment. Endless sea surrounding them, they probably are going in circles inside the triangle and what not. Maybe...]

What if he was supposed to be alongside us?

[It's a bit of a sudden thought, but he goes on, a wild theory without any basis -- so he just voices it aloud to see how silly it is to have come up with it:]

What if he was going to be a 27th person here but the Captain realized having Davy Jones on his side was too good, instead of leaving him with us? If we're going to be on a ship forever then having Davy Jones...I dunno, control the sea or something would be better than letting him be with us and against the Captain.

That's certainly possible. I've heard that boats like this are usually supposed to be able to hold far more people, so the idea that he could have been brought here like the rest of us seems like it could make sense.

But I wonder... If that's true, then Mr. Jones likely shouldn't have his powers. Freyja doesn't seem to have hers anymore, and I imagine that's the same for some of the others who were brought here. I don't know what sort of powers Mr. Jones had to begin with, and I'm not sure if he still has access to them now.

[Like sure, there was apparently something underwater that flung Constantine back up onto the boat according to what he said at the meeting, but there's no telling if that was Davy Jones' doing or not.]

Hahaha...I knew it was a silly idea...

[Yeager raises a good point there, really. Filbo has no counterargument]

I dunno what's up with all of you guys' powers, but I guess the Captain has the ability to take them away at will. I can't think of how, though -- it's not like any of that exists where I'm from. I guess that I'm from a really mundane place, compared to most of you guys' homes.

Honestly, I don't know much about it either. I'm not a mage or anything of the sort, so I haven't noticed anything missing.

It certainly does seem odd that something like that could be removed or sealed or something...

Magica thinks there are souls inside that weird vending machine that's not giving anything for free. If souls can be sealed, then maybe magic can too!

[Even though Filbo says that, the face he makes seems to indicate he finds the idea kind of anyone thinking there are souls in there kind of funny due to how outlandish it is, if...]

...she better not be right about the part about souls in the vending maching.

That would be rather terrible... I wonder why she thinks that? I just assumed it was broken.

[Jumping straight to souls... That Magica certainly is an odd duck. Ba dum tish.]

Ha, well, I found her there glaring at that vending machine. She saw me and called me over, and I said maybe it was a machine for the Captain or Davy Jones instead of for us. We discussed that a little, and then she got defensive over her houses -- her, uh, her lairs -- and we called Scott dumb, and she plans to get someone else to break that thing open.

[Magica is an interesting one, if terribly abrasive. Filbo isn't sure what to think about her]

So it probably is my fault she jumped to that conclusion.

She certainly is a feisty one, ja? I hope she's able to get that thing open, I'd like to see what's inside there! Assuming it isn't souls, of course.

As long as it doesn't get us all in trouble! I know we said everyone's just pretending to get along, but I do would like everyone to survive.

[Because Filbo really isn't pretending to like people. He does. Once he got used to all these humans, he found them fun to be with. He's going to try to help everyone stay alive, that much he has decided.

It certainly would be nice if we could turn all of our anger and frustration on the Captain and find a way to work together.

[It's so rare for me to be playing someone who is 100% softhearted without any strings attached, yet here we are, with someone like that. Makes me feel bad for the plans I have for him]

You're going to the party, right? The one Lady Freyja and I will host? It's going to be good!
