Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

Graffiti! Wouldn't want the good captain forgetting where exactly we stand.

I don't know if it'll help with anything, though.

It'll annoy the captor who's already proven he can't actually do anything to us?

[onlyyoucan]

Can't do anything now. We know he controls Mr. Jones somehow, and he looks strong.

I can handle it if it comes to a fight. I'm literally built for it.

[She seems to think this over and then shakes her head, but doesn't do anything.]

Everyone's got a different idea of what will actually help. But why are so many people just having fun?

[sharddrive]

If we can have fun here until we get rescued or find a way out, it's even less likely someone will take the dumb murder rule route. Seems pretty simple to me.

[He thinks for a moment and adds a blacked-out tooth to the caricature.]

Plus, and I cannot stress this enough, I am so far from being above pettily annoying the captain as a form of entertainment.

I hope you're right. But i'm not sure. He did say he'd keep waiting.

At least if he tried something it might get him out in the open.

Maybe. As it is, we're waiting for him to come to us.

[sharddrive]

If this doesn't get him to come out we can all gather around the cameras and sing one of those really annoying songs at it. Those ones that just loop forever.

I don't think most of these people will agree to that.

Well then, good news, it'll only take a couple. It's really more about enthusiasm than numbers.

If you think it'll work. I'll just keep looking for something else.

Until we find access to the engines or communications systems, I'll take what I can get.

Do we even know the Captain's on the ship? Aside from that he calls himself a captain.

[sharddrive]

Being somewhere else would probably be the smart move. So I give it maybe a ten-percent chance.

[onlyyoucan]

Right. The technology level on the ship would suggest he didn't have the ability, but the phones are ahead of that. I've been places where the levels didn't match because they put more work into medical and military science over the generations than anything else. This might be something similar, which means we can't assume he's here.

[sharddrive]

Much as I'd hate to miss the chance to thank him in person, that could work to our advantage. It'd mean there's definitely longer-range communication equipment on board.

Then it'd be something that could be exploited to work with the phones.

[sharddrive]

[Shard takes a second to look at his own phone.]

Any chance you're some kind of hacker?

[onlyyoucan]

Not really. At all.

[sharddrive]

Worth a shot. If I could plug into this thing I might be able to do something, if that hasn't been disabled too. And if there's not some kind of firewall.

We might have to look deeper into the ship in case there's something here. That's all I can think of.
