WEEK 1

Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
FRIDAY | SATURDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to peace week! Feel free to mingle (and investigate, if you like) to your hearts' content! Please ensure all investigation toplevels are marked accordingly, and otherwise enjoy! If you wish to talk to The Captain or Davy Jones, look here for the former and here for the latter! ]
cethflayn: (what in the world...?)

Ooh...

[How unusual! It looks to be made of metal, just like this ship! But it is underneath the water completely! She marvels at the illustration.]

How do they have enough air to breathe...?

They usually have tanks of air attached, that are much more compressed and can release it as needed. Though there's been studies done towards extracting oxygen from the surrounding water as well.
cethflayn: (but if you think it is safe)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-02-07 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[

All of this is very mystifying.]

They want to take air out of the water...?
oceangirlfriend: (eureka)

[personal profile] oceangirlfriend 2021-02-08 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
[She nods, pulling a notebook out of a lab pocket to sketch out some molecules.] Everything's made out of molecules at the most basic level. If you break down water in the right way, you actually get oxygen-that's the breathable air-and hydrogen. The problem is how to separate them properly, and how to dispose of the hydrogen without it exploding.
cethflayn: (gracious no...)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-02-08 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Exploding? That's - is that not dangerous? If the sub-marine exploded below the water, the people inside would not survive!

[Molecules sound fake though, but okay.]
oceangirlfriend: (eureka)

[personal profile] oceangirlfriend 2021-02-08 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It certainly would be. Which is why they're testing out those methods above the water, where the explosions can be controlled and contained if they happen.
cethflayn: (what is that?)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-02-08 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Containing an explosion still sounds very dangerous.]

Goodness, there is a lot that goes into this sort of science! I do not think I could wrap my head around it all even if I were to study it for the rest of my life.

[personal profile] oceangirlfriend 2021-02-09 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well, there's plenty of science subjects I don't really understand, myself. Some of it is based on generations of refinement and learning, after all. But as long as you listen to experts about safety, you should be personally fine.
cethflayn: (sparkle!)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-02-09 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Then I shall do just that! If the opportunity comes, of course.

Good to hear. [Tail-wag, and Adeline holds out the submarine romance book.] Would you like to try reading this one, now that we've found it?
cethflayn: (Someday I...)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-02-10 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose no harm should come of it. Yes, please.

[Gratefully accepts book!]

Reading books has never harmed anyone, as far as I know. [Well, there was the incident with bullet-pattern greeting cards, but those aren't really books.]
