WEEK 1
Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?
There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!
Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
FRIDAY | SATURDAY
[ ooc: Welcome to peace week! Feel free to mingle (and investigate, if you like) to your hearts' content! Please ensure all investigation toplevels are marked accordingly, and otherwise enjoy! If you wish to talk to The Captain or Davy Jones, look here for the former and here for the latter! ]

...Do you have gods, or anything else considered divine?

Many cultures believe in a god or gods. I do not personally. We have encountered extremely powerful entities, but I do not think that is the same thing.

Gods - or those considered to be gods - are often capable of magic, though such things are often seen by mortals as being miracles; where I'm from, mortals are likewise capable of using magic - using energy to fight, or to create things as I do - though on a far lesser scale. They are less likely to affect a large area, or people on a massive scale, than those considered gods.

THe closest to that which I am aware of is an entity known as "Q". He is from another plane of existence, and would appear to be omnipotent within ours. His kind do not interfere often, however - and I would still not refer to their abilities as "magic".
[Like, there's clearly some science that can explain it! They just don't really understand it yet!]

[She doesn't sound like she's judging at all, just trying to parse out what else it could be.]
If he is from another realm, as you say, then it would make sense that it does not translate particularly well. Sometimes there isn't an explanation that can be easily given, assuming the being in question is willing to offer one at all.

[So, yeah, got it in one there Freyja]
How understood is magic? Is it just a name for a defined, quantifiable set of abilities?

I believe so. It isn't something that can be done at random; it's a set of skills that are studied and learned, just as everything else is. Mine works...somewhat differently than what the mortals are capable of, but the principle, I believe, is the same.
