Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

No, I will leave you to it, I believe. Even when faced with fiction I hold in higher esteem, I tend to prefer facts.

Even if I am bound to run out of the books about factual information eventually.

It does seem that fiction takes up the most space here.

Perhaps the Captain would prefer us not to know many facts.

It is probably easier to keep us under control if we are in the dark about everything.

[She's just. Reflecting on information and control of information, not like in a big philosophical way but in a personal, lived experience way.]

If you only have what you are told, there is only so much you can do.

Of course, if someone is attempting to conceal information by simply not providing it freely, there are likely other means of finding it. You simply require a more creative approach.

I suppose that would require a thorough examination of our surroundings, or an intense interrogation.

[Not, as she's experienced it, having a major religious leader near death and desperate to confess her weird resurrection crimes.]

It is not as though we do not have the time to commit to either of those, all things considered, so we may as well. It seems more sensible than the alternative, anyway.

Hmmm...you are right. We seem to have an abundant amount of time.

Hopefully that means, between everything available to us and all we have to discover, we will not become bored by any means.

Hopefully not, though admittedly there could be more available to us. I suppose at a certain point we will have to satisfy ourselves with socializing, though...

I have a very low limit as to how much of that sort of thing I can tolerate.

[Yeah sometimes people just don't like to be around people. Not that Flayn really gets that, but it is a thing.]

I knew someone who...would not have quite your temperment about it, but would feel the same regardless.

I am sure there are many who feel the same way out there, but they are perhaps less noticeable than more social individuals.
