Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

[A blink.] The water does get filtered regularly, actually. Precisely to prevent contamination like you mentioned. It's pretty rare for people to get terribly sick from cruise ship pools-they'd sue, after all. [She kicks a bit of water into the air as she talks.]

[silentscout]

...it's filtered?

[He is going to walk along the pool edge now, looking for the filter. And when he finds one, he's going to try prying off the lid to look in.]

Whoa there. [She slips into the water as he walks, but when he reaches for the filter she propels herself across the water to grab his arm.] It's not a good idea to mess around with them.

[silentscout]

[His arm is grabbed! And when he's touched, he jumps a little and then glares at Adeline.]

It's not going to hurt anything.

[oceangirlfriend]

Actually, it could. A filter without a lid could easily suck someone's hair or limbs in if you weren't careful. And that's just the most obvious danger.

[silentscout]

If I'm not in the water, it can't suck me in.

[oceangirlfriend]

Still, it'll be a bother for anyone else who wants to use it. [A pause.] Not to mention it'll probably release a bunch of particles into the pool and recontaminate it.

[silentscout]

[Oh, right. Because it's filtering and messing with the filter messes those particles.]

[He seems to get the idea. He's trying to pull his arm away from her though.]

[oceangirlfriend]

[Okay, yeah, she's going to release his arm and propel herself slightly away now.] My apologies. It was the fastest way I thought of to stop you.

[silentscout]

It did stop me, so it was effective.

[He. Is not addressing the apology at all. I'm sorry he's weird like this.]

[oceangirlfriend]

[Well. She's seen weirder.] It was. In general, you shouldn't try to pry covers off things like that. Some of them could do worse than release contaminants. [Like electrocute you.]

[silentscout]

If it was dangerous, there would be a warning on it.

[She paddles a bit closer to get a better look at the cover from outside.] There usually is, though it's not always very obvious. Sometimes there's a bit of an assumption about what people know by default.
