Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

[...That. Is actually far more reasonable than Plumeria was expecting? Which is probably a rare sentence in Magica's direction I'm sure. Here she thought she was gonna have to throw hands over some kind of ridiculous orders or whatnot, because she only takes those from Lady Freyja, thanks.

As long as I have somewhere to sleep and somewhere to keep my things, as far as I'm concerned? You may do as you wish. I don't intend to make a habit of staying here for longer than needed.

[ This initial assent pacifies her, and, miraculously, it's shaping up to be a conversation where nobody turns the volume up to eleven. But then: ]

Haven't the faintest what you're implying, thank you very much. You can hang flower chains all over the lower half, or whatever passes for interior decorating in Dökkálfheimr.

[ The last word is pronounced confidently, if not competently by Plumeria's standards — which is my way of saying I have no idea if the FE:H pronunciation differs from how a scholar would say it. ]

Plumeria doesn't flinch at the raised voice, even if she can't exactly see Magica from where she's sitting. Okay, well, she certainly wasn't expecting that level of offense, but then Magica makes the mistake of mentioning flower chains and--]

Oh please. Flower chains and the like are more to Ljósálfheimr's taste, and just the thought of touching one makes me want to gag.

[If there's any issue with Magica's pronounciation, Plumeria doesn't seem to have it. At this point it's almost amusing to see which ones are off base, and Magica's about the most competent that she's heard so far.]

...I doubt that they have any of the glowing mushrooms that give Dökkálfheimr it's charm. So I suppose you're safe from that much.

[ listen intellectually I know this but on the other hand: nobody deserves Magica. Magica doesn't even deserve to be around herself. ]

Right, you're the subterranean ones, silly me. [ This tone of voice is not "embarrassed" so much as "Plumeria passed a vibe check." ] Thankfully. I mean, not sure how you feel about it or anything, but I'll take a hard pass.

[ There's the sound of Magica shifting in her position on the top bunk as she speaks, the better to size up the new wall real estate. She pulls a butter knife from a pocket somewhere in her stupid dress-and-cloak ensemble. It's time... to get down to business....... ]

[You know what, that's entirely fair. Sometimes it really just be like that.]

That's fine, as far as I'm concerned. I mean, I've seen plenty of other places in mortals dreams, and nothing can compare to my home...but I can certainly approve of anything that isn't so bright and sickenin.

[So yeah, no worries there. This is obviously going to be a mistake the second Magica starts carving into the wall, but clearly, we vibin' here.]

Trust me, won't be a problem. I don't go past a menacing fuchsia.

[ Unfortunately, Magica locates the perfect place to start inscribing the first D, which means Plumeria is about to hear what it sounds like when someone attempts to mark wood paneling with a goddamn butter knife.

Which isn't that much noise, actually? The sound of Magica putting the proverbial elbow grease in is probably more notable. ]
