Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

There really isn't much to do on board, I've found... Unless you particularly like reading and eating, and I suppose you've exhausted both of those options.

I'm used to being very busy managing my guild! My men wouldn't know what to do without me! They're hopeless on their own, really.

[He sounds almost fond, though...???]

I also was in the middle of working for a very important client; I've been traveling all over lately, so I've barely had a break! I suppose I'm simply not used to having so much free time.

I'm not very familiar with guilds... Is your work very important, then?

While I wouldn't say my guild's work is necessarily important to the Guild Union as a whole, [mostly because the don hated his face and his guild] we do take on a lot of very difficult jobs.

We're essentially mercenaries; we do whatever work we're paid to do. That often involves bodyguard work and fighting monsters. Where I'm from, monsters are everywhere outside the cities, and most people don't have the means to defend themselves if they need to travel. So we often handle work like that!

[Fire Emblem has many things, but monsters are surprisingly not one of them? Mostly.]

Such things tend to exist only in dreams, where I'm from; there are no wild creatures posing such a large threat.

It does seem like most worlds don't have them, or at least not as many as we have. We really are unlucky...

There are quite a few mercenaries in the mortal world, however. So I am familiar with those in that line of work. Their duties just involve less...fighting of monsters and the like.

You also seem far different to most of them.

Oh, do I? I suppose I am a bit eccentric.

You seem more well-off than most in that profession.

Ja, I am. I do also handle the buying, selling, and transportation of blastia - it's a very lucrative business.

Blastia...?

Blastia are power sources. They're capable of doing all sorts of very useful things! We use blastia to create barriers to keep monsters out of our towns, but even much smaller blastia are necessary for everyday use; they power just about everything in Terca Lumireis!

Smaller blastia can also be used to enhance one's fighting abilities, which is how we're able to defend ourselves against the monsters. Of course, blastia are very carefully regulated and controlled within the Empire... so getting your hands on one isn't the easiest. Even within the guilds it can be a bit tricky to obtain one!

We don't have anything of the sort where I came from. Our...energy source is magic, which can be imbued into items; it sounds as though this works the other way around.

There certainly is overlap with magic, ja. Many of our mages also have an interest in blastia. I don't understand all the intricacies of either - I'm not a mage or a researcher!

Magic is integral to the existence of our realms - Dökkálfheimr and Ljósálfheimr both rely on it. As such, we're all capable of it; if nothing else, I miss my own.

The sort of magic present in your world and that you all use does sound very different to what I've seen...

[It's kind of crazy to imagine it, honestly.]

Will you tell me more about what you can do with your magic?

My own magic is largely influenced by my realm - what I can do in Dökkálfheimr may not be entirely possible outside of it. But while I'm within it, dreams shape the power - if you can conceive of something, I can grant it to you. Anything you like can be given.

I can also do less kind things to others. The Captain, for example, deserves to be kept in an eternal nightmare, with no mercy or respite from us. Something simultaneously more merciful and crueler than death; something that will endure until his body no longer allows it.

I'm capable of bringing people into Dökkálfheimr if I choose. I think it would be suitable for someone like him, unless he changes his mind about this little killing game he's put forth for us.

I can also change forms, into something else entirely. I have one form that I prefer; I can't just decide to look like anyone or anything.

Fascinating... And certainly agreed! The Captain certainly is trying to make this a nightmare for us, he deserves one of his own.
