Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

[He says quietly from behind her, like the creeper he is.]

[ And she jumps--whatever she expected, someone else being out this late sure wasn't it!

She turns to him, though, pushing a bit of hair out of her eyes. ]

I-- couldn't sleep.

[bolderfell]

[He steps better into view, loosening his scarf.]

Sure. But this is the hour when shady types wander around.

[philoxenia]

Well... you're not wrong.

[ She doesn't ask him if he's one of those so-called shady types. ]

But so far, I haven't run into any trouble.

[bolderfell]

[Does she really need to ask.]

It's always "so far" until you do.

[At least it seems he's more interesting in warning than threatening her, the way he lets his gaze flicker away.]

Not really... I suppose I'm restless more than anything. It's... hard to settle down here.

They've got a library for that. One of those books could knock a man out faster than sleepweed.

But a walk helps clear the mind, too, as a bonus.

[Without further comment, he starts to walk along in the direction she was going.]

By the way... why are you out so late?

[ She's definitely not accusing, she's just. Curious. ]

[He doesn't stop her. Perhaps, just maybe... he meant for her to follow?]

...Why do you think someone like me would be out this late?

Am I supposed to think something in particular?

[ She says it mildly, not looking away from him. ]

[His expression fades to deadpan.]

Do people ever tell you you have no sense of self-preservation?

Therion rolls his eyes and looks ahead again.]

I'm a thief. [Just in case she somehow missed the memo.] The dark hours when no one's around are when I do my best work.

Unless you steal my key card, there's not too much I'm worried about.

[ She's been through worse, it's fine. ]
