Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

I don't see why not, unless it's as ridiculous as the food. They've got a sad idea of what Fischbrötchen is supposed to be.

[Anna gestures at what looks more like a Filet-O-Fish.]

It's as if they don't know anything about food.

[ Oh, that's just a crime. ]

Maybe the chef is a robot whose programming doesn't allow for more complex recipes. [ She says it so matter-of-factly, too. Stranger things, right? ]

I tried ordering tuna Niçoise... and it's not terrible, but I wish I could get into the kitchen and cook something myself.

Oh, at this rate, probably. He did go on about complicated equipment or what have you. I know someone was ordering some ridiculous amount of things earlier and not eating any of them.

... Really?

[ ... she guesses there are worse things to do, but. ]

I suppose that's a way to test what we can actually order here.

A wasteful way, but a way nonetheless. The street food turned out fine, so perhaps he only didn't want to put effort into something good.

Street food?

[ Well, she's curious. ]

... Anyway, you might be right... but at least we won't go hungry here.

[ Even if she really wants to cook, herself. Or bake something, because that's how we deal with stress. ]

Curry schnitzel, takoyaki, hot dogs, surely wherever you are has something like that.

Well, yes. I was only wondering what sorts they tried... I-in any case, I wonder if our mysterious chef can make a decent crepe.

Try it, it can't be much worse than what we've already got.

[philoxenia]

Alright.

[ She orders a crepe--strawberry, with whipped cream and Nutella just to start. It comes out pretty much that. ]

Ah, well... simple things are good, at least.

At least that looks edible. Maybe the cooks just don't understand the finer things.

That might be true....

[ She absolutely intends to eat the crepe, but Anna's sparked a bit of inspiration. ]

Eggs Benedict?

[ What comes out is... in theory... eggs Benedict, but. The sauce doesn't look quite right, nor does the ham. ]

... Ah.

Really? Eggs Benedict counts as too fancy for them? That's just sad.

It might be the complexity of it... even I've never really mastered making hollandaise just right.

Just hope that doesn't give you food poisoning.

[philoxenia]

... I'm not too worried. Poisoning isn't an interesting way to go, and this is an experiment we're all in.

[ Which is why she just. fuckin digs in. ]

It's-- it's not terrible, but...

Noted. Avoid anything difficult, then, and probably anything that takes days to cook, too.

Ah... it's a shame curry is likely out of the question, then.

Unless you like the instant sort from the packet, I suppose.

It's not terrible in a pinch, but...

There's nothing like fresh, homemade curry.
