Week 5

Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

Another week, another motive, another trial. Even without a literal time loop, it's easy to start to feel stuck in something of a rut. Though vandalism parties and the like can help shake the feeling somewhat, it's only natural to start going a little... stir-crazy, don't you think?

Fortunately for you, another week brings another new section of New Rapture to investigate. This one is the biggest yet! And look at that fun theme park. And a bar!

Seven of you are dead, but eighteen of you remain. What you do to try to escape is up to you, but at least following :)'s advice gets you coins for stuff, you know?

[Three more people are dead.

Forrest had been in an acceptable mood last night, all things considered; it'd gotten better after he's made things good with Dandy, and his conversations later in the night were all fine.
But this morning he feels strange for several reasons as he gets up and gets ready for the day. The dress he arrived in fits him somewhat oddly now; has he lost weight? It's probably fine; he just makes a note to eat something when he's downstairs. He tends to forget, after all.

Granted, once that's taken care of he'll be in the new areas, looking around for a little while before deciding that it's a little...much? The theme park is abjectly terrifying and he'd prefer not to go near it (he can just imagine that someone's going to die in there, caught in mechanical jaws, and the thought creeps him out beyond belief); the rest is...fine, he supposes, though the stage in the theater seems sort of fun?

He's never been an actor or a performer, but he'll get up just for the sake of messing around a little to entertain himself; anyone wandering around near there during certain parts of the day can hear singing? It's not very good singing, it's clearly just someone seeing what the acoustics can do and just amusing themselves a little as opposed to anything genuinely decent or trained, and eventually he stops and kind of laughs a little at himself.]

That sounds so much better when Azura does it.

[After that, though... Well, he's in the nightclub and he's sort of poking around the bar, whether he should be or not; honestly, he sort of figures that if he's old enough to be here in the first place then he's old enough to drink, but he's honestly not rebellious enough to just start on his own.

So for now he's just poking around the bottles, and he's checking out whatever setup they have for the music, and- oh jesus he's discovered nadja and laszlo, he's going to spend the next several minutes trying to undiscover nadja and laszlo...]

[Jonathan was helping himself to the alcohol already when Forrest enters. He gives him a pleasant smile, not really minding that he seems interested in the bar.]

You never quite struck me as someone who enjoyed a drink!

I actually don't know if I do or not...?

[He's had wine a few times with dinner. That's been about the extent of it.]

Is there anything here that you would recommend?

Personally, I have always favored a nice red, myself, but I am quite fond of a good pint with friends as well. I can't say I've ever tried any sort of mixed drinks.

I've had some wine once in a while. Not really much more than that; honestly, I'm willing to try some if only because I imagine that if I'm old enough to be made to fight for my life, I may as well.

Some of this is blue. I have no idea what this is, but I believe I'm about to find out.

Oh certainly! You are more than old enough to have a drink already, but if you're forced to partake in such a horrid event, then I think you're allowed to ease your pain a little.

[... Oh yeah Jonathan is seeing the blue as well now.]

... Quite a peculiar drink, isn't it? I wonder if it's some sort of potion that got misplaced here.

[Do... potions like that exist? He's not sure but he would buy anything at this point.]

Oh - hey, Forrest.

[Brett is behind the bar poking through the bottles here and deciding if he's just so completely giving up that he's just gonna start day-drinking right now. Like, before noon probably?

Forrest's arrival immediately decides him against it, at least. He puts down whatever he was reading the label on.]

Did you see the creepy theme park?

I think so... With all the machines and such?

[He shudders a little bit.]

I'm terrified that someone is going to die out there, to be honest. I don't understand what the giant metal contraption is for, but it looks ghastly.

It's a roller coaster. People ride them for fun. I do think they can be fun, but I wouldn't ride this one.

[Due to safety concerns, sure, but also just because...well, riding a roller coaster alone in Murder City just doesn't actually sound that enjoyable? It's a weird vibe for sure.]

I've been thinking the same thing, actually. Sometimes you hear about accidents, back home...

[He considers for a moment, before deciding he doesn't want to think too long about the sort of accidents that one can get into on something like that.]

I assume part of the fun is in the speed it can get up to? I know Aiba has said that there's some fun to be had in things going very fast, and people drive or ride things that go extremely quickly for fun...

[Mm.]

I suppose in a world where there aren't wyverns, it could probably feel similar to flying.

Yeah, that's why they're fun! I'm not a coaster junkie or anything, but I like them. A lot of them are named after dragons, or griffins - flying things like that.

[Granted, that doesn't necessarily put him in the mood to ride this specific one.]

People ride things like this, or you can buy a car that goes really fast. That's a little more dangerous, though - since you're on the road with other people.

[Oh, so it's Forrest doing the singing! Hi, Forrest. Rossiu enters and waits for a pause (or for Forrest to notice him) before approaching.]

Azura? A friend of yours?

[He's not good at it, but it's fun to do sometimes! Thankfully he wasn't attempting the dancing, as that would have been a hot mess.

He'll notice Rossiu fairly quickly and he'll stop, coming over to sit on the edge of the stage.]

Yes, she's a friend of our family. I don't know her very well, but she's traveling with us; she's a songstress, and she dances as well. She's very talented!

Oh, that sounds wonderful. Her music and dance helps lifts everyone's spirits, I'm assuming?

[Not that it's the only reason to keep her in the army or anything like that, but morale is very important.]

It does! It keeps everyone's morale up, and it's proven extremely helpful in low or difficult times.

I like to watch her practice sometimes. She's also... Well, she's very pretty...

[Like, she's definitely off-limits in a very "that is a friend of our parents'" sort of way, but Azura is hot and he has noticed.]

[Forrest is so cute. This is adorable.]

I imagine she would be quite captivating; performances like that often are.
