Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

One of the primal human fears, I'm pretty sure. Loud noises and falling. Almost everything else comes later. Or at least, that's what I've heard - I've never really done much with the psychological elements of things.

Makes sense, those two are important to survival. Fear is a response meant to keep us alive, after all.

Something like that. We're a bit less in-tune with it than you probably are.

How've you been doing? With all of this. Still giving everyone less than a week?

It's become obvious that there isn't an escape and we will be trapped here for quite some time, so I can't say I'm doing well.

[But she'd rather not talk about that, so moving on!!]

Less than a week until someone kills, yes. I doubt they'll manage to kill more than one person, but perhaps I'm being too generous.

It depends on how they decide to go about it, I think.

[Physical violence, maybe they'll get one. Poison or something, though...]

Some people seem a bit more inclined to jump than others, though.

You're right. I'll be surprised if some of the people here manage to behave themselves for even that long.

Yeah. I think most of us are capable of killing someone here, if the situation is dire enough. At this point it's just a matter of seeing who moves first.

Precisely. Anyone here could decide the risk is worth it and find someone they can kill. I would hope we're all prepared for that to happen.

Oh, no one's going to be. If everyone were that vigilant then it wouldn't happen in the first place.

Even the most prepared can be killed. You're likely right though; anyone who isn't careful would make for easy prey.

There's not much point in going for a challenge if you can get an easy kill, at least in a situation like this. I'm trying to keep aware of things, anyway, at least on a personal level. It's not like I'm going to be fighting anyone off, after all.

[He's pretty aware of how easily he could be destroyed by some of these people, at least.]

I'm not going to just let anything happen, but the odds aren't exactly on my side.

[He could probably take the teenagers? And some of the adults, maybe, but against most of them he doesn't really like his chances.]

It's true, you're no warrior. [thanks, aela.] As long as you remain vigilant and careful, you stand a better chance of surviving.

Have you been sorting out what to do with the technology? This place runs on a lot of it.

Some of the others have offered explanations. It seems most people here are familiar with these things.

I have yet to destroy anything, if that's what you're asking.

It's not like there's a problem with you not knowing or anything. I'd have an issue with you if you were stupid, sure, but you clearly aren't. We're just from a different point in time than you, I'm pretty sure you know plenty of things that we don't.

Of course. I doubt many of you know how to find, track, and kill most beasts.

Though some of the beasts I've killed likely don't exist in some of your worlds.

Where I'm from, a good amount of people have never hunted for anything. At all. I'd be willing to bet a bunch of us here haven't either.

It seems like a skill that isn't necessary in most other worlds.

[And judging from her tone, that is somehow the weirdest thing she's run into. That includes the horrible washing machine.]
