Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

[She's gonna order some miniature chocolate cupcakes, then.] They come in much larger sizes too, but I figured you might want a smaller sample first, just to make sure it suits your taste!

It smells... very sweet.

[Chocolate isn't even that sweet, but the medieval palate isn't much used to refined sugar.]

Yeah, chocolate is usually used in sweets. Though that's probably other ingredients in the cake making it smell that sweet. The powder by itself it's actually a little bitter.

Hmm.

[Welp, might as well. It came from the kitchen, so it's not poisoned. Therion pulls off a little piece of cupcake and pops it in his mouth.]

[bolderfell]

It's actually kind of funny how big his eyes get.]

People eat like this? All the time?

[Aw...getting to introduce someone to a comfort they've never had always feels nice.] Quite often, yeah. [She pauses.] Though chocolate's more of a snack food. And you should clean your teeth properly after eating it, since too much sugar can hurt them. [Whoops, falling a bit deep into mom-mode there.]

[bolderfell]

Sounds like a problem for nobles.

[Don't mind if he just polishes off the rest real quick. You know. So no one can take it.]

[ladygeryon]

[She'll let him do so, no problem.]

Well, everyone should take care of their teeth, not just nobles. [A pause] Have you used toothpaste before? [The answer is very likely no, but maybe there's some substitute tooth goo they use in his world?]

[bolderfell]

...I have cleaned my teeth, if that's what you're asking.

[Because I, Asher, personally can't deal with the idea he never has. But also no he doesn't know what a tooth paste is.]

Alright, that's good to know. Toothpaste is...well...have you noticed a squeezable tube in your bathroom?

[bolderfell]

I have eyes.

[ladygeryon]

Yeah, that's the toothpaste. You just need to squeeze out a little while cleaning your teeth-it should foam up a little but not enough to fill your whole mouth. It'll taste a bit like mint, if you don't mind that.

[bolderfell]

Great. So it'll taste like I've been lapping at the inside of Alfyn's mouth.

[ladygeryon]

...Alfyn? And usually you rinse your mouth with more water after that, so the flavor doesn't stick too long.

[bolderfell]

An apothecary. He's one of the people I'm traveling with. Always has...

[He gestures vaguely around his mouth.]

Some herb or another in his teeth.

...ah, he makes herbal remedies, then? Most people in our world don't use those anymore. And I certainly hope he doesn't use the same herbs he chews as ingredients.

[bolderfell]

Never asked. Your world doesn't use medicines?

[ladygeryon]

Oh, we do, but not herbal ones as much. Ours are more...mass-produced, you know? You can buy them in bulk at Pokemarts.

[bolderfell]

Hm. Can't say I understand the difference, but I don't know much about that stuff to start with. Most people don't. For that, we're pretty lucky he's with us... even if he is way too nosy for his own good.

[ladygeryon]

Aren't lots of healers like that? Always wanting to know the specifics of your health status and acting like they know better about what's best for your body... [She sounds a bit like she's speaking from personal experience, there.]

[bolderfell]

Ugh. Yeah. And we've got two of them.

[ladygeryon]

Are they good at their jobs, at least?

[bolderfell]

...Yeah.

[ladygeryon]

Better than being nosy and incompetent, I suppose. They ever get into arguments about proper treatments?

[bolderfell]

No. They get along so well, it's disgusting. They can chat all day about flowers, about helping people... It's always so noisy.
