WEEK 2
So far, so good! That might be where you at. No real further word from The Captain seems forthcoming, but also no real further... anything seems forthcoming. You've gathered some new information, but the locations are the same. All you've really gained is... well, rising tension?
How long until someone tries to take The Captain's way out of here? Only time will tell...

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
[ ooc: Welcome one and all to your first case week! Don't forget to turn in regains over here, AC over here, and if you want to chat up the NPCs go here for Davy Jones and here for The Captain! ]

It's that question that sees Plumeria out and about, over at the vending machine with the coins that have piled up under her pillow. She figures that she might as well see if that gray machine will take them, and sure enough, it does. What it drops, however, is nothing short of baffling. She's so used to the weird clothing and other items from the various vending machines, but the corkboard? The knife? The Knarrevik??? All of this stuff is baffling as hell...
And then she gets to the dress, which she just. Stares at for a solid minute. Taking in the very essence of Nicholas Cage, whom she does not recognize, and just...]
...This is the ugliest thing I have ever seen.
[...
So anyway, she picks up her stuff and makes a quick trip to the women's showers to change into it. She's already taken her daily shower and she's making sure to be quick about it, but dear gods this thing is so ugly? That it wraps around to being amazing for her. Sure, she likes pretty things, but this is somehow the least sexy thing in the world and it hits different. And thus, she's gonna be wearing it as she wanders about today. Feel free to come across her, it's bound to be stupid.
Of course, later on Plumeria's gonna be haunting the gym again, once again walking on the treadmill. But it seems that she's brought some of that stuff from the vending machine (sans the dress, which is on her; the knife, which she's got under her pillow back in her room because the gods have not blessed her with pockets; the hand bra, which is trashed unless someone takes it in the vending machine room; and the box of chocolates, which are currently resting on one of the handles of the treadmill while Plumeria snacks on them) with her and set it beside the machine; if you come in and take a look, Plumeria will address you.]
Feel free to take what you want. I have no need of any of this junk. [...] Except for the little...squirting device. That one I'm only willing to trade for something of value.
[She can think of many fun little pranks she can pull with it, after all.
And of course, in the late evening, Plumeria can be found in her usual haunt of the pool, vibing with the stars.]

investigation!
Uh. Sorry, Adeline, she's trying not to bother you at least.
During the day, you can find Sara in the buffet (why is she eating another one of those sad-looking burgers?), but you'll more often find her in the gym. Running laps, using the bikes, lifting the weights... and eventually looking like she's going to just pass out in there, but stubbornly pedalling on the exercise bike anyway.]

Well, nothing seems off... that in itself is kind of weird, right, Player?
[ A pause. ]
Oh. Right.
[ Or, later on, she ends up in the Jimmy Buffet with a few of the books about... not Earth, alternating between eating some crab cakes and studying them. ]
Huh. Neat.

Flayn has taken up a table in the Party Zone with a stack of handmade paper, two corkboards, and...an empty and cleaned bag of Takis. The bag is being pinned into the corner of one of the boards, laid nice and flat to prevent creases next to the invite to yesterday's party, while Flayn hums and doodles...Davy Jones? And his pipe organ?
The doodle is not the best quality, but it's nice and non-offensive because Flayn holds no animosity towards him. And this is a corkboard for things Flayn likes about things so far!
Later, she is in the Jimmy Buffet, calmly enjoying some slices of grilled cod over plain, overcooked spaghetti. The cod's fine, it's the spaghetti that's giving her trouble - after a couple of bites, she goes over to wherever she can find condiments and tries adding different things to the mix. A couple individual butter packets, some salt, some pepper, more butter packets...]
There must be some way to make this salvageable...hm. What would you add to noodles to improve them?
[Yes, she is asking your opinion. What's your noodle seasoning of choice?]

...he gets neither of those in his haul, but what he does get is a jelly donut and some gummy fish, so you can see him try not to look too excited as he retrieves those from the machine. Or you can ask him for anything that might be yours! Why not. He'll hang around a bit so he can inspect the jelly donut for any apparent defects before just going ahead and eating it while it's fresh out of the machine.
He's going to take the gummy fish and a fruity drink up to the top deck so he can lounge decadently on one of the chairs by the pool, a book in one hand and the ziplock bag of fish on a little stand beside him. He may as well enjoy himself a bit...]

MONDAY
no subject
That does not seem to have been the case today, however; currently she's on one of the decks, standing on the lowest rung of the railing - though she's still on the right side, she's not hanging onto the outside or anything so she absolutely isn't going to jump. But she is leaning pretty far over the water, looking down and...throwing some things into the ocean. The shit that goes overboard today includes:
- A hard-boiled egg.
- The contents of two cups of worms.
- An entire stick of unsalted butter.
- The contents of at least three boxes of chocolate.
- A coconut, because she couldn't get it open.
She is watching whatever happens with those very intently, though she can't say that she knows what she expects. God only knows what she thinks she's doing; maybe she's working through some stuff.
Either way, if the events of this weekend have taught her anything, it's that there's stuff in that machine that may or may not belong to people; as such, she's brought the contents of the first two sections of everything that's happening here with her up to the top deck this afternoon. She's not up here for swimming during the day, seeing as she's got her white dress on; she's also got the flute she obtained from Constantine, and it seems she's up here practicing on it. It's been a while since she's played anything like this, but it seems that she's not bad at it! What she's playing is likely unfamiliar, though it's often some variation on this; if it's not that, then it's likely that she's either toying around with something she used to know well and is a little rusty on, or she's perfecting a bardcore cover of Taylor Swift's Willow for all anyone here knows.
The point is that she's seeming more relaxed than she ever does, there's actual music happening up here, and perhaps most importantly she's surrounded by stuff that may or may not be yours! Feel free to join her up here for any of the above reasons.
Of course, otherwise she can be found on the top deck again later at night, indulging in her usual nighttime practice of spending time in the pool; it's something that she's taken to enjoying, either in the water properly or out on the lounge chairs, relaxing and spending time staring skyward.]

So what does he have left to do now? A lot of thinking, really. Until now he had been able to keep thoughts at bay with a whole lot of working, but now that he didn't have anything immediately urgent to do, all the thoughts were rushing in.
That's probably why he's there on one of the deck lounging chairs near the pool, staring upwards at the sky. It's nice, there's the usual wind, the clouds are floating by...it should make most people feel peaceful. Not him right now, though.
He asks anyone who comes by to chat:]
What do you think is happening at home right now?

The very first thing he's doing is taking the little gold statue that says 'World's Best Grandma', going up on the top deck, and throwing it overboard. The force at which it gets yeeted is a good indication of just what he thinks about that statue.
The stuff in the 'keep' list he's taking with him back to his room, and everything in the 'up for grabs' list is being left by the vending machine. Feel free to take whatever you want, or to offer a trade if you like.
Lalli will be sulking around for most of Monday, but he can be found in his room or in the kitchen. You have to eat sometime! But he's having trouble finding anything he wants to eat, and he makes annoyed noises as he tosses various cans and boxes over his shoulder.]

"'But madam, I am but a simple sheepherd with no means to pay for this tincture,' she said, clutching her shawl against the chill wind and rain of the evening, her cloak soaked through and clinging-"
[His tones are overly serious and deep, in between barely-stifled snorts of laughter.]
"'Come in, dear, and let us discuss trade,' intoned the witch, pulling her in and stroking-" oh, wow, this starts off FAST-
[Later in the evening, approaching or after lights out, Shard is wandering the deck. If he spots anyone-]

TUESDAY
MOTIVE - Sending A Present Home
Theatre room, now. Come on, chop chop. We don't have all day here. Oh it's the captain by the by. PS: no this is not another mass murder attempt. Promise.
[Once everyone has assembled in the theatre, it looks like the screens from your first time in here have been set back up! This time they don’t play an ad, though - once everyone’s in, some generic stock footage of people on cruises kicks in as the Captain...]
You're sure the flamethrowers really don't work now. Like, I can't just- Ugh, you're just- You're killing me here, kay? I'm throwing you overboard next.
[...Finally acknowledges you.]
Okay, okay, everyone here? Good, good. Can’t help but notice it’s been over a full week and, uh... well you're all still alive! Kind of a bummer, if you ask me. Come on, I know I said I’d wait forever but I’m not waiting forever. So here’s the deal, passengers! I’m going to make like a good host and… sweeten the pot. I mean, it’s going to be more like poisoning the pot, if you want to get into semantics, but whatever. Too much sugar’ll kill ya anyway.
Anyway, all of you have enemies! People who want to destroy your world, end civilization, yadda yadda yadda, you know, bad guy stuff! And for those of you who think you don’t, just remember: an enemy is just a terrorist cell or bio-organic engineering firm you haven’t pissed off yet! You also know that I know enough about all of you to write those profiles, and I had the resources to tele-snatch all your sorry asses in the first place. If you don’t get on with the murdering by Friday, your enemies are getting the resources needed to win, and I have specific action plans for all of yours. And no, I literally don’t care if their MO is killing babies or whatever. I mean, that's gross, but if that’s the case, then hey - throw your hat in the murder ring and see what happens. Unless you want all that blood on your hands.
[With that ultimatum set, the endless stream of footage comes to an end with the screens turning black. Looks like you're allowed to go on your merry way.]

It won't do much good to panic, and Constantine's not the type to make big rousing speeches about how everyone's in the same boat. (Hah.) So after wandering away from the theater, Constantine can be found sitting alone at a table in the Jimmy Buffet, a plastic cup of hot water in hand. Set out in front of him are two boxes of tea variety packs--the ones from the vending machine. Most of them seem to be green tea blends of some sort.
He dunks his teabag a few times, then takes a sip from his own cup.]
Fancy a cuppa? [He makes a vague gesture towards the buffet area.] There's a hot water kettle over there. Help yourself.
[His voice is unusually level, which contrasts his slightly shaking hands.
Later, after sufficiently caffeinating himself, Constantine makes his way up onto the top deck. In one hand, he holds a bundle of forget-me-nots. Attached to his belt, there seems to be some sort of...pink, fancy riding crop.
Constantine scrutinizes the flowers closely, turning them over in his hand. After a moment or two, he digs into his pocket and takes out the wooden capsule he reclaimed from Adeline. He plucks a few sprigs from the bouquet, opens the latch, and tucks them inside. It almost looks like he wants to throw it over the side of the ship, but then he hesitates, instead running a thumb over the splintered wood.
If approached, the object disappears as quickly as a card might leave a magician's hand. He turns to present the bouquet.]
What d'you know about flowers?

Anyway! Today's the day Yeager tries to get anything useful out of that vending machine... which means he's going to be in here awhile because I haven't top leveled for it before. There's a lot here. Some of it catches his attention when it drops, but the vast majority barely gets a glance before Yeager moves on. Eventually once he's done and surrounded by Stuff, he briefly sorts through it and moves to take some back to his room.
Thankfully, he won't just leave the rest in the vending machine room. Instead, you can find him out on the decks, chilling in a beach chair and flipping through some books with all the stuff. Come yard sard it up if you want something in the trading section; it's not like Yeager has much use for most of this stuff. If you happen to approach, Yeager raises a hand in greeting.]
Good afternoon! You aren't too worn-down after that motive today, ja?
[...He certainly doesn't seem to be, goddamn.
Once it's dark out, Yeager's moved on to the top deck. He's leaning on the railing looking out at the water, but he seems lost in thought for once. He's also got one of those snowglobes with him, and occasionally he shakes it and watches that instead. He doesn't seem particularly bothered or upset, anyway. Feel free to join him if you want, it's not like he's opposed to company.]

She'll worry about that later, though. She's been sitting on a whole bunch of those strange coins that she's been meaning to take to that vending machine, hoping that there was actually going to be something useful to come out of it. What she gets is a little... mixed. There's a few things that she spots that are interesting at best, but most of it seems to be pretty inconsequential. ]
Well that was anticlimactic.
[ After she grabs the things she's interested in, she gives a look at what she's left on the ground and... nudges it all to the side. Hey, she doesn't want it, why should she cart this around?
After moving on from there, she'll eventually end up by the pool, having changed into her swimsuit that's mostly covered up by that cheap bathrobe that she got earlier. She's taken more to sitting back on the deck under an umbrella, reading some book that doesn't particularly matter to her. She waves at whoever comes up, setting the book to the side and settling her hand on what looks like the riding crop that Constantine had earlier. ]
That sure was exciting earlier, wasn't it~?
[ Later in the evening, though, she can be found moving in and out of room 3, seemingly moving stuff out and putting it in the hallway. If you've been around Reika if/when she does her regain runs... you may actually realize its some of her things. Maybe they're doing some spring (winter) cleaning...?
When approached, she stops to look at who's coming up for a moment, before going back to her work. ]
Can I help you?

What even is this?
[Later, after the mountain of stuff has been moved to her room, she'll be in the library reading the same military history books everyone else has been reading for the past week. She sets one down with a frown.]

Unfortunately, all this plus a bunch of thrillers about Jack the Ripper (that totally wasn't stolen from the library) is now cluttering up the hall in front of room three. After Alice has done her work, Reika lingers around the area as if she's thinking about just what to do about this.
If you come up to her, she shrugs.]
I'm not sure what to do about this, honestly... My roommate thought this was a good idea.
[After waiting until Alice is far away, Reika seems to have decided to eventually just to move everything back into her room except for whatever anyone's decided to grab.
Later, she's just going to the deck and look over the ocean as is her usual. She just stares at the ocean as she speaks up.]
It looks like someone might wake up after all.

WEDNESDAY

But she will not. Her faith in the Professor is absolute - Byleth can and will overcome anything. Fodlan will be fine, even if the Captain's claim is true.
But even thinking back to her home, to the Professor, also draws Flayn's thoughts to Seteth, and the earlier thoughts that came to her. It's been over a week since she likely disappeared without a trace, and her father must be worrying himself to death over it. She thinks back, almost six years ago, to her capture by the hands of the Death Knight, and how long and tightly Seteth held her when she came to consciousness after being rescued. How exhausted he looked, how near to tears. Without a doubt, he was searching for her, out of his mind with anxiety. And she could do nothing about it.
You may see Flayn at the bar in the morning, looking carefully at the available bottles of mixes, checking for one that is definitely made of glass and is also less full than the others. It wouldn't be good to waste the contents of a full bottle, not when they don't know where their supplies come from. From midmorning to the beginning of the afternoon, she sits in the party zone, writing furiously on the last sheets of her fancy regain machine paper. There's a lot she has to say.
Then, by late afternoon, Flayn is on the Top Deck. She looks out at the waves for some time, bottle in her hands, all stopped up with the papers she had written on rolled up inside, before-]
Hyah!

There goes the bottle, flung into the sea. She watches it arc in the air, then plink into the water, and stares at that spot for a good while.]
...How silly of me. There is no guarantee it will ever reach him.
[But by the Goddess, she had to try.
She'll be out here until the sun sets, just so you know.]

She hasn't been willing to speak much to anyone, honestly; she's been staying largely on the top deck, not least of which because going there isn't necessary and requires deliberate effort. She spends most of her time up there sitting on one of the chairs, wringing her hands just to give them something to do, seeming focused on nothing but the blank space a few inches in front of her face; occasionally she'll stand, and she'll pace, but it's clear that her mind is...somewhere else today.
It isn't until night falls that she leaves for a few minutes, for the sake of getting changed, though she's moving like something of a zombie when she comes back up; she wants to be in the pool for a while, though, to feel the water, even if she is spending a lot of time just...floating on her back with her eyes closed.
She isn't sleeping, just resting for a moment, but still. She's having a time of it today.]

Today, around lunch, he'll actually be taking quite a bit of the funky seafood from the buffet and heading up to the deck. You can find him up there tossing large chunks of slightly suspicious crab and stuff into the water, leaning over the railing to watch for any activity. He's hoping to catch another glimpse of the kraken, but any fish or sea mammal activity would also be nice to see. He misses - has lost the accustomed input? - misses having Spot around. It would be good to see an animal.
When he's out of crab, he goes on to his daily reading. Today, at least, he's chosen to sit out by the pool. His small book pile now consists entirely of romance novels; he's burned through most of the other stuff.]
I am not certain that many of these books portray healthy romantic relationships. But they do not appear to be aware of that fact. Curious.
[At night, he'll be up on the deck charting the stars again. It looks like there's a few other drawings happening alongside his notes, tonight.]

She doesn't like it. She doesn't like it at all, and if she's seemed pretty distant as of late...well, that'll explain it too.
Of course, the evening comes around and Plumeria makes a trip to the vending machine to deposit her coins, and--]
What in Lady Freyja's name--?!
[That comes out particularly forcefully when everything drops; but in particular, a very cute long-haired calico comes out from the machine, seemingly no worse for wear as Plumeria tries to get her damn bearings and...]
Why would you put a living creature in the machine?
[...Anyway, she's just. Gonna get the cat to follow her for a quick trip to the theater, after which you'll be finding Plumeria and her new acquisition for the moment in the library. All of the rest of her stuff from this current romp is here too, so feel free to lay claim. It...it seems like Plumeria is grasping how to play with the cat? She's using the Hand Bra that she'd throw out at any other interval like one of those follow strings, watching the cat go after it.
...She is still so wigged out, but she might as well embrace cat motherhood before someone comes to pick up their cat. She. She certainly hopes they will, how in the gods name does she explain this to Magica--]

THURSDAY

[It's a bit precarious, but he manages to climb the ladder to the top bunk one-handed, storing most of the items inside the improvised enclosure.]
[Later in the day, he's set up in the Jimmy Buffet with a large spread of items on a table, with a handwritten sign reading "FREE OR BEST OFFER".]
Fair warning if you want it, I think the butter has probably started melting by now.
[Later on in the day, he can be found basically anywhere with his shiny new Incredible Soaking Device, taking potshots at the cameras.]
Check it, blind shot.
