[ Well, that was — no pun intended — unfortunate. ...But in light of what they already saw happen the first two weeks, maybe it's not really that surprising, either; and maybe it's at least a little easier to recognize when something is going to be a lost cause, if not necessarily to accept it.
In spite of everything, this is the first time Decus has been in a halfway decent mood after a trial, which he can gather is... probably not the case for most of the rest. So he figures he can take on the party host duties for this week rather than push it onto someone who needs a break. Anyway, he wants to keep up this feeling-okay thing for as long as he can, and if he has too much downtime and starts to think about what happened a week ago today... he might end up a little less okay.
So, he brings some food down to the buffet from the cafes for a little variety (even though most of them probably aren't going to be too picky at this point), along with some tea and cocoa from Starbucks and a few harder options from the bar, and gets that all set up in as welcoming an arrangement as he can manage. And...
Well. Despite how he may come off sometimes, he actually is self-aware enough to realize that some of the others might not appreciate being reminded that he's still alive when three people who'd never had any intention of killing are dead. It doesn't really bother him, but he doesn't want to create unnecessary drama, either; so he doesn't put his name anywhere on the invitations he puts up around the place, just a simple:

And while he might come by to offer a drink or something to someone who looks like they need it, he's mostly going to hang back and let everyone do their thing. ]

[For most of the evening, he would be in the library; back to work focusing on his notebook and appearing to concentrate on his work as if nothing at all had happened. Until one might have noticed the pen in his hand wasn't moving and it was almost like he was staring at a blank page.]
[Of course now that the mask was back on, it was impossible to see if he really was staring at anything, or to read the expression on his face.]

But now Emily...is her responsibility. And she will do her best to live up to that, not just for Sara's sake, but because it's only right. So it's pretty late in the evening when Flayn finally does manage to find Zero. She's holding Emily in both arms, and stops in the doorway when she sees him working.
It's a little like their first interaction, in a way, except Flayn isn't going to drag a chair across the floor. Instead, she just. Quietly comes in and sits at the same table, staring at the wood grain. Hugging Emily tight.]

[It's a whisper, since she knows he is working. Or. Trying to. Probably. If Zero looks up, he'll notice Flayn's done a little something to her hair, and her ears are out. And pointy. That's new.]

Well, Plumeria's doing better than she usually does tonight. She'll actually be at the buffet, though it seems she's taken it upon herself to go to and fro to deliver food to people if needed. You might be able to catch Plumeria there, though, and she won't turn down the company. Just mind the food she's trying to balance.
Of course, if you happen to be elsewhere, she's seeking you out. One way or another, Plumeria will...honestly, keep her distance a bit, but she'll try to speak up to you where ever you are if you don't happen to be at the party.]

Of course, Plumeria will be going to the snow room later, because that is her designated 'deal with the trial' room. It's not that she isn't hungry - she's ravenous, but she's also still crying, and hurting, and now her room is so much emptier. The only thing she can bring herself to do is make Lorna's bed - she can't touch Lorna's things, they were Lorna's. For a little while she just curls up in her bed, sipping from a water bottle when she can manage it and pressing her face into many of her stuffed animal friends when a particularly gut-wrenching sob pushes up through her. Jimmy Bear, the handmade and ugly teddy, is the one who comforts her the most.
If a certain someone needs to drop off Emily or come lecture her for her actions, this is a good time to do it. Flayn's. Too tired and too upset to lash out in return.
There comes a point where Flayn ventures out, but the smell of food from the Jimmy Buffet only makes her think back to this morning, and she turns away from it, running and running until her feet take her to the crafts room. If Jack hadn't taken their food away, Lorna wouldn't have fainted in here. If Lorna hadn't fainted, the spirit wouldn't have taken over. If Flayn had just been stronger or stayed awake, maybe...
Something sort of. Snaps. In Flayn. She grabs a pair of shears from the supply and holds the blades closed in both hands as she fast-walks to the women's bathroom on Floor 2B. There, she stares at herself in the mirror. Tugs on one of her locks of hair. Pulls it back to reveal a pointed ear...squeezes her eyes shut, sucks in a breath.]

[...Some time after that, Flayn is, uh. In the Jimmy Buffet. Solemn, quiet, slowly making her way through tea and a small bowl of buttered noodles and peas. She...she looks different, though? And for the first time for many of you, you can see her ears. Her pointy, definitely not human ears.

[Hi, Flayn. Just the person he wanted to see -- it was impossible not to notice how close Flayn was to Lorna, and if he heard a few things correctly during the investigation she also was doing pretty badly during the investigation. Checking on her was something he meant to do.
That said, when he saw her haircut he wasn't sure what that was a sign of. Is it a grief thing? Do humans cut their hair to mourn the dead or something? He sees the ears, but just shrugs it as Flayn just having pointier ears. Grumpuses have all sort of features shaped different from each other, he just figures Flayn has different ears when compared to other humans]

That doesn't mean he doesn't feel sad for Lorna, Albedo and Sara's deaths! He feels awful about them. They're more regrets to a rather sizable pile. It's as heavy as ever! But somehow, he feels okay. Like he can carry them.

This is exactly what everyone needed emotionally! ]

No, what she disliked was the idea that so many of their crewmates thought they could be heroic. That Lorna was forced to make a decision to sacrifice one of them or die with grace.
