WEEK 1

Well, you've now met the brains of the operation, as well as the shockingly nice-looking young lady in charge of day-to-day business. Now all that's left is to get used to your accommodations - there's 24 other people in similar shoes to yours to meet in this building, you know! And who knows how much longer you might have them...

The daily routine in the facility quickly becomes obvious - the only way to tell time moment to moment is to check the strange device The Professor gave you, but at the same time every day the lights in and out of the facility go up, and at the same time every night they go down. Otherwise, it's almost maddening sometimes, how little happens in here. At least you have a few rooms with enough to hopefully keep you occupied. Who knows what secrets they might hold? And there's always that vending machine, if you can find something that fits in the coin slot...

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
FRIDAY | SATURDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to Peace Week! Enjoy it while it lasts. Remember, office hours for The Professor's Assistant are over here if you're interested, while regains can be deposited over here! ]

[Nova can be found in the tunnels for a chunk of the day. Unlike most people who do this, she looks distinctly and deeply uncomfortable. Particularly when larger fish swim by and she involuntarily flinches. As for why she's here when she clearly doesn't want to be: she's got a piece of paper balanced on a book and she's taking notes. Anyone passing by will hear her talking to herself.]

Rockfish or maybe snapper? Hard to tell, it wasn't close enough. Guess he wasn't lying about where we are, even if the Pacific's a big fucking place.

[Eventually, Nova moves to the dining area. Not to eat, exactly. Instead, she appears to be ordering increasingly specific and slightly bizarre dishes. You might encounter her ordering things like funeral potatoes, MREs, chili size, cotton candy, coffee crunch cake, and various increasingly elaborate sushi rolls. Feel free to eat any of the things she's been kind of piling up on one of the tables. She doesn't even like half of it.]
emberserker: Arms crossed, standing by a pillar. (quick comment)

[Anna stands off to the side, wrinkling her nose.]

What is all this? Did your hamburger explode?
reallyhatesharks: (i get the people outta the water)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-06 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It's science, obviously.

[She does not elaborate, instead going back to the counter and ordering live octopus.]
emberserker: Angry look. (you are not)

[personal profile] emberserker 2020-04-06 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's wasteful. You won't actually eat all that rubbish, will you?
reallyhatesharks: (the water's getting dark)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-06 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, given that the Professor said we could live here basically forever? Not worried about that. I'm more worried about how they make the food.

[Well. That sure is octopus. It's just raw, though, not still moving.]

Huh. Well that's something.

You know where we are?
reallyhatesharks: (the water's getting dark)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-06 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd need a nautical chart to pinpoint better, but the Professor wasn't lying about us being in the Pacific Ocean. [She points to a fish going by.] Pacific bluefin. Generally found in the Northern Pacific, but can migrate to the Southern Pacific. Great for sashimi.

[The fact that she's only seeing fish that match pre-sharknado species found in the Pacific is weird to her, but given the fact that they're all from different places that's probably only weird to her.]
bolderfell: Cool. Not my problem. <user name="nappotuna" site="tumblr.com"> (NOTICE 🗡️ Any trouble?)

A nautical chart... Would something like that be in the library?
reallyhatesharks: (i get the people outta the water)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-06 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. If they want to keep us truly in the dark, probably not. I'm the closest thing to a marine biologist here and this? [She makes a wide gesture to the whole of the tunnel.] Not exactly my area of expertise. I study sharks.

Trying to find its limits?
reallyhatesharks: (let's go swimming in the ocean)

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-06 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty much. The more specialized a dish is, the less like what I wanted what I get is. The potatoes were fine, the coffee cake less so.

[Like a poor imitation of the exact cake she was thinking of, basically.]

[personal profile] reallyhatesharks 2020-04-07 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Might not even be a person. Theoretically replicating or cloning food isn't impossible and if this facility is designed to house us forever that would be a more sensible solution to the problem.

[There's enough people that the pantry necessary to support all of them would be insane.]

Funeral potatoes. [She seems to realize what a weird statement that is and backtracks immediately.] It's a kind of casserole? Mostly it's hashbrowns and cream of mushroom soup with potato chips.

[ Technically, Jasper gets it. This facility was built for humans, and humans, like most organic life, need some kind of nutritional input to continue existing. If the Professor wants the experiment to continue, he has no choice but to provide them with it.

This does not keep her from walking into the dining hall and regarding the table full of food as if it's a particularly baffling insult to her, personally. She stomps on over, stares down like she can intimidate it into giving up its secrets, and then just kind of

sticks a finger in the cotton candy. ]

Huh. [ And okay, there's also a human in here, that's fine! ] What's the meaning of this?
