The temperature is low, which might make you wish you had woken up under the luxurious covers instead of atop them. The lights, too, are low. But next to your bed is a small personal radio, and it's playing a song for you. There's also a small note printed on folded cardstock next to it.

Welcome to the Helios Suites at New Rapture. The time should currently be 12:00 PM. Please take a moment to get your bearings and become acquainted with your new environment, then meet in the hotel lobby at 1:30 PM sharp for an orientation with Mayor Fontaine.
With only that for guidance, there's only the one thing to do: get out there and start exploring... well, it's hardly a full city, but it's something! And in the halls (or on the wall of your suite or the lobby), you very well may find up to 24 other captives.

As Adaman exits Suite 4, there is a great sense of unease about him. A whole lot of nervous energy as he walks about, looking all around and generally doesn't seem to be inclined to stay in one place for very long. Pacing, really.]

About five minutes later, the door to room B gets slammed open and a very tired-looking, very irritable, very pale (considering the not being white and all) man storms into Suite 1 like a fur-trimmed hurricane. It kind of sounds like he's already been yelling at someone and has simply decided to take it outside of his own room? ]

[ Is it perhaps one of those escape rooms Colin Robinson has occasionally mentioned? He wouldn't know if it was, since of course anything Colin Robinson says is designed to bore the listener to stupefaction, and also he wasn't listening. Still, this is definitely a room, and he definitely wants to escape it, all the better to go home, sit in an empty room, and stare at the walls for the rest of eternity. Anyone else in the living area doesn't even register at first. He's just here, yelling!
And after whatever godforsaken nightmare happens in the disaster suite, he does venture outside! The man is a lot less shouty, but he still seems on edge. His mind, such as it is, is racing, and nothing going through it right now is good. For some internal Nandor reason, he looks almost surprised to run across other people? But after looking perturbed and, like, mentally buffering for a few seconds, he gives an awkward little wave at whoever's in front of him. He might as well ask... ]

[ Eventually, he gets to the ground floor! He walks purposefully into the restaurant and the gym, then just as purposefully out, but doesn't leave the lobby of Helios Suites in the same way. His current clothes will have to go - he doesn't have a way to access the Grid, but that's not an obstacle he's unused to. If there are other captives... "Lord Drakkon" perhaps isn't the person he ought to be. He thinks back to the other versions of himself that he's bested - he could pull off a decent Normal Middle Aged Man, couldn't he?
To that end, he changes into the provided tie-dye shirt and jeans, adjusts his gait, and heads out.
He can be found in Suite 5 first, standing in front of the profiles and... musing. His tone is light and conversational as he addresses anyone nearby. ]
That's one heck of a way to say I prefer "Tommy," huh?
[ "Thomas Oliver." This Fontaine is mocking him. They'll learn better than to trifle with Lord Drakkon.

[ He looks to the left of him and, where Jades bed should be is more of a singular room. His eyes narrow a bit as he sits up, exploring the room for a moment before coming across the little note. At least they kept it short and sweet. Though, he'll see how willing he is to meet up with everyone else later. For now, he'll leave his room and check out the rest of the suite and kitchenette! His tummy rumbles. Might as well check if the food in here is good or not by making something.
Once he leaves the suite altogether, Floyd finds himself wandering into the Lobby, checking out all the profiles. Neither of his cohorts are on this list, phooey! He'd have to ask this Fountain guy what the heck is going on whenever that meeting happens. Though... How'd this place get information on him?

[Straight to business as usual. Though it doesn't quite sound like an interrogation, it's obvious he needs answers now.
Of course, he's not going to be getting any answers from his fellow captives, so later on you'll find Rossiu exploring. Thankfully he doesn't need any introduction to the concept of elevators, so you may come across him in the restaurant! His expression is definitely far more baffled now as he stares at the menu.]
This seems... excessive. What is the point of all of this?

After a few long minutes of investigation, this scrawny boy in an ill-fitting t-shirt, positively soaked to the bone, slips furtively out into the communal area of Suite 4, like a nervous cat trying to take stock of his surroundings. His rain-drenched hair and clothes aren't the only strange thing about him; for one, he's got those handcuffs around only his left wrist, and for another his face and arms are adorned with fresh cuts, scrapes, and bruises, the sort that look like they've only just stopped bleeding. His sneakers squeak as he inches forward, regarding everything—and everyone—with a heavy dose of caution. ]
Where...? — Hina-san- ...?
[ And then, that caution is lost to the non-existent wind, as he starts poking at the doors, open or unopen, to the other rooms in his suite.
After some time, it becomes clear that Hina is not here, both in this suite and in the others. His sneakers squish and squeak as he continues his search, just in case, down from the elevator into the lobby. That caution's returned, but only until he sets foot into the large, decorated room, letting out a long, low sound of amazement. ]
It's huge... It's huger than huge.
[ His handcuffs clink against one of the tacky decorations as he pokes it, as if to make sure it's real. ]

When Aiba booted up, she immediately realized this wasn't a place she was supposed to be at. Scanning her surroundings and taking her usual little hamster form, she immediately hides in the bed and analyzes the situation. Everything seems to indicate...she's in no location that's familiar to her, nor anything stored in her memory. Aiba tries to contact the many satellites and network she's connected to, but there's no response. It seems she has been isolated, running only from local memory and resources. Battery at 99%, plugging into a normal wall socket isn't ideal but will have to do in a pinch.
Time to self-destruct. When taken by unauthorized people, she's supposed to self-destruct, to avoid her state-of-the-art technology from being discovered and used. Thanks to her programming and memories being uploaded on the cloud, she won't die, only this body will.

Or at least that's how it should work, but she's bound by the Three Laws of Robotics, therefore she must seek her own self-preservation. Aiba can't self-destruct unless ordered to by an administrator.
Perhaps she was being too hasty, she thinks. Better try to go outside, be as stealthy as possible, and determine a course of action. Aiba jumps off the bed, waddles towards the door, and jumps up to the handle, turning it and opening the door. Doesn't even bother to close it behind her.
It takes around 45 minutes for her to finish exploring. She saw the rules, she saw the profiles, and by now she knows she must inform everybody in ABIS about this all. Problem is, if she self-destructs, since she's isolated from the cloud storage she won't remember anything she has seen here. Quite the conundrum!

No choice but to interact with the others. Given the rules she read, she should be cautious. After consideration, and seeing the photo in the profiles...she decides she'll have to use a function that usually doesn't get any use. Time to project herself so she can be seen. Whenever she sees anybody, she hides but makes sure to keep a line of sight at the other person's face, and projects an image directly into their retinas, so this human projection is seen. When she speaks, she directs her voice in a manner that makes it relatively convincing this human form is speaking. This should work!
It doesn't change that, it's as if she suddenly appeared from the corner of their eye, all of a sudden, and without making a sound. Surprise!

[First things first: try to contact Date. Get instructions. If she can reach a phone of any kind, she may be able to get in touch with him! Aiba's projection stares at you, with neutral expression. At least it's not hostile or suspicious.

There's no phone to be found, though. Welp, it's time to do...socialization! How weird, to talk to people. Usually she doesn't get such a chance. Trying hard to hide how this makes her kind of nervous, she does her usual routine of appearing from the corner of their eye and salutes]

When she finds her way to the mirror, Mielle spends a long moment simply face to face with the girl staring back at her. At first she doesn't trust her eyes – but then she reaches back and sweeps her hand slowly down the long, blonde hair falling down her back, feels the ruffles of her dress shifting and moving against her skin and knows that despite how completely unreal everything about this place seems, it feels entirely too solid and present to be a dream.
Let's go back to the past. I'm sure we'll be happy this time.
A shudder wracks her whole body and her knees unhinge. She has to sink to the floor and let the delayed rush of adrenaline and fear crash through her before she can finally bring herself to climb back to her feet and start exploring.

P–Pardon me, I just– the door was unlocked, so I made my way out here to... [ Then, upon realizing she doesn't recognize this new face – nor do they recognize hers – she just... blinks at them owlishly.
When she manages to make her way out of the suite, she only looks increasingly lost and puzzled as makes her way around the rest of New Rapture. The architecture is almost familiar and though the technology and construction of this new place is well beyond her, she can at least tell they're somewhere high-class and well-cared for. She can't quite decide how she feels about it.
The lobby at least is comforting in its familiarity, even if being here at all is strange and disconcerting. She wobbles her way into a chair and gazes up at the profiles lining the wall. It's... almost a relief to see no one she recognizes here, even if her stomach churns at the thought of being alone. And her own profile...
It's odd to see an image of herself from what feels so long ago. Happy, smiling and at peace. Certain of her place in the world and her own future. Mielle wants to grab that smiling girl and shake her, hard. Maybe then she'd wisen up and stop being such a fool.

[Jonathan wakes with a start at the radio broadcast. He had fallen into a dreamless sleep the previous night rather early, finding that sleep was his one true escape from his captivity. He had planned on waking slowly the following day, but it’s shattered when he hears music following a voice he didn’t recognize.
He sits up with a start, barely listening to what the radio was saying as he looked around. Jonathan wanted to scream when he realized he was deeply underwater, and once again once he reads the rules on the wall.]
Dear God, what does this foul beast have in mind for me?
[In his mind, this was an extension of Draculas torment. Maybe he was worried that being above ground was not a secure enough prison for him, and that he needed to be placed underwater to ensure that he would never escape.
In a blind hope, he checks the closet for anything useful, and he feels a tiny spark of happiness when he finds a suit and tie to wear. In the very least he could be somewhat presentable in his new prison.
After he puts on the suit, he stares at the bedroom door. He didn’t know if he wanted to try it, and confirm his fear that he was locked inside these four walls. But eventually he tries the door.
It was perhaps a little fascinating that such small things give him joy now when a wave of relief washes over him as he opens the door. Still, he wasn’t eager to see what horrors awaited him, and he gently peeks his head out the door…]
2. Everyone Else
[Eventually, Jonathan exits his suite to go wandering around. To everyone who witnesses him, they will immediately notice just how harrowed this guy looks, with hollow eyes and a patchy stubble, and it kind of seems like he’d been crying recently.
He’s generally quiet and a little avoidant, but he eventually makes it to the profiles. His eye catches his own profile, and he can’t help but cry out in sorrow and frustration.]

Her own emotional reaction to this might be puzzling to those who faintly hear it on the other side of the wall. No panicking, no fear. Only laughter. An uncontrolled baffled laugh unlike her usual girly giggles.

She looks over the profiles with a discerning eye and hums. She commits all the names to memory and makes a note to try and memorize the details as well. They'll come in handy later.]
