COMMENCE EXPERIMENT
Fun fact: Did you know that the Pacific Ocean has a surface area of 62.46 million miles? That's not even accounting for depth.
You awaken to a sharp jolt, like you've just hit the drop on a roller coaster. Then it passes, and you're in a bed, suddenly very clearly awake. Is that right? Were you asleep? Your memory is a little fuzzy as you come down off the adrenaline, but it puts itself into place soon enough. This is not, as one might say, your beautiful house. If you have a beautiful wife, she sure isn't here.
The positioning of the bed inside your new room gives you a very clear indication of where you are - or at least, where the building is. Above you is a decent-sized window looking out on... well, the ocean. But not in a fun beachside resort way, to say the least. Fish swim by pretty frequently, here to keep you company - but they cannot hear your screams, and do not seem particularly bothered if you tap on the glass unless they're right by it. It's thick, man.
On the bedside table, you'll find two things: a key card with a number between 1 and 25 on it (no points for guessing which one is on whose, unfortunately), and a small handheld device, a little like a smartphone but mostly like a blackberry? Remember those? Anyway, accessing it will reveal only a scarce few functions: a list of profiles, a map of the building, and a very ominous set of rules. You might try to ignore that last one! Unfortunately, you'll find them in a frame by your door. And in a frame somewhere in every room of the place, if you go out exploring at all. The tablet also has a message for you when you open it:
Greetings. Please take an hour to become accustomed to the facilities, then proceed to the meeting room north of your dormitories. Attendance is mandatory. - The Professor
But hey, it... it also lets you play Snake! Who doesn't love Snake, huh?
Anyway, head out into the halls! Make some new friends - or maybe enemies, wouldn't that be exciting? Look around a little! Just make sure to be back for whatever this meeting is - after all, you want a chance to face off with your captor, right?

He usually doesn't sleep in his uniform. He DEFINATELY doesn't sleep without Obstagoon taking up half the bed. So right away even before opening his eyes he knows he's not at home. Man he must have hit up a raging party.
When he opens his eyes and sees the ocean outside though he just stares for a bit before. Screaming. Yeah. And he has good lungs so odds are someone might hear him.
Later, once he's... calmed down? Okay no he never calms down but he's not yelling at least- but once he's at that point you might see him staring out one of the bigger windows at the fish, looking very very confused]
What the- what bloody region am I even in?

[Pssshpt. And then it slides right back closed.
...Anyway.
Eventually, Therion figures out the doors, though he by no means appears used to them. He's evidently unused to a lot of things here. Even the green accent lights in the halls get a weird, untrusting look from him. He brings his fingers close, but stops shy of touching it.]
How...
[He barely mumbles that to himself before shaking his head and moving on, discomfited.
By the latter half of the allotted hour, Therion's tucked himself in a back corner of the library, pinching the inner corners of his eyes like he has a headache. He has his key card and tablet in front of him, but, I mean. The tablet's face-down. He clearly doesn't know what the heckity to do with either of these things.]

What the-? Terrakion? [She blinks a few times, before realizing she can't feel anything from her god.] ...this isn't good. Aria, do you remember anything? [The Absol shakes her head, before hopping up and allowing Nira to lean on her as she walks closer to the windows. Yeah, that definitely looks like real water...]
...how deep down are we?
[She takes stock of the device and message left for her, frown deepening before she picks up her walking stick and starts out of the room to look around the whole building, Aria trotting at her side. She takes a look at every room, just to make sure they're completely underwater, and can definitely be seen getting more and more unsettled as this goes on.]
We're really stuck down here, huh...
[She tries to settle down for a while in the library, reading a book with Aria curled up at her feet, but soon moves on to the fitness room where she pounds away at a treadmill for a while, before finally heading to the dining area to grab some protein.]

This isn't exactly how Lif wanted to start his day today, but he knows that panicking isn't an option. After giving his room a thorough checkover and wrapping his cloak a little closer around himself, one might find him exiting Room 25 and holding back briefly to look at all of the people here. He's keeping his distance for now, but there's...probably no denying that it's a little creepy to have a zombie just. Staring at everyone. Menacingly, though he's not actively trying to menace this time.
...Look, he's trying here, give him some credit. And analyzing the people. Probably while checking this smartphone thing, which is really hard when you have claw hands and look intimidating enough to drive people away and can't exactly ask for help. It's certainly a curious thing, at any rate.
He's going to move on to looking around the building, however, eventually; his first stop will be the Library, and while he doesn't ease entirely, he looks far more at home here than anywhere else. Lif riffles through the books, reading different ones from different sections and seeming to not be satisfied with the results. They're interesting, at the very least, but they're not what he's looking for.
If anyone is close by, Lif will look to them before canting his head.]
Have you found anything useful?
[It's a simple question, really, but he's still rather socially inept from his years of being dead give him some credit here.
The last place he'll be checking out is, weirdly enough, the Laundry Room. This is more blatant curiosity on Lif's part, because he's used to washing items by hand...he's got his cloak off this time and seems to be trying to make some sort of heads or tails of how this works, but Lif's nothing if not adaptable as he looks around the room and reads all the various things in here. Detergent is easy enough to find, and in goes the cloak as he sets the time and closes the door and--
...Huh.]
What a novel idea...
[He's not sure what any of this future contraption stuff is but he's not complaining??? Honestly, it lowkey seems like he's in awe.]

So. The first order of business is to figure out what's going on and where she is, which means Aela grabs the room key and the strange device. She has no idea what it is or how it works, but it's here and so it's hers now!!
You can find her leaving room 18 shortly after waking. Aela's definitely a little strange-looking if you aren't from some kind of medieval fantasyland with an emphasis on warrior culture. When she notices you, she speaks up.]
You there. What do you know about this place?
[It isn't an accusation, and her tone remains even despite the blunt wording. Either she's not panicking or she's just really damn good at hiding it.
Later on, you can find Aela in one of the tunnels. She doesn't seem to have any problems walking through despite obviously having never seen anything like this before, but it's that latter part that's caused her to stop and stare out at the fish and plant-life and the fact that they're underwater and wow, this is kind of a lot, huh. Feel free to join her if you want, she'll notice your presence but she's way more interested in the ocean right now.]

And then... fish?
You'll hear a scream and a crash from Room 7, and then a girl in a flamenco dress stalks out the door into the lounge, glaring at anyone around.]
What is this? Because it's certainly not my doing.
[Later, you'll find her in the south tunnel, with one hand on the glass, apparently concentrating on the fish.]

No time to mope or be worried, it's time to explore!
Shelley stands in front of the large vault-looking door, hands on her hips]
Doesn't this scream 'the way out' so loud it's ringing in your ears?
[This level of security can only mean that, really. How to open it, though?
Still, there's only so long she can stare at the vault door. For now, looking for clues, she's at the gallery, looking behind the paintings in the gallery and examining each one like she expects to find secrets and ciphers, like this is all one of those movies where people go from one place to another following clues and codes]
Why paintings? Are we supposed to gain an appreciation for art? I don't mind art, but being underwater doesn't make me understand them any better than if I was on land.

After that much comes to her, she reacts near automatically, rearing off the bed and tearing one of the sheets in half in the process with an angry grunt. She rises to her full height and sees freedom outside the window (even the fish are wrong, she registers without thought, and will have to come back to later), and she summons her helmet—
Which never comes. She tries again and again. No light bursts into her field of vision, no weapon manifests. She's just standing, bareheaded and breathing heavily, in a holding cell that's too small for her. The fish, thankfully, continue to swim about, unaware of what sounds kind of like an agitated bull moose gasping: ]
What—?
[ Or, uh, they do until she takes what is the obvious next step, logically, raises one balled-up sledgehammer of a fist, and slams it into the window. The impact hurts more than it should, and she hisses in pain and more rage (what have they done to her?), but Jasper's never met a barrier she couldn't shatter, and she's not giving up so easily.
Anyway, no matter what happens to her after that, at some point the door to Room 23 whooshes open, and an absolute mountain of a woman stalks out. She has precious little concern for those who might happen to be in her way, and also isn't really looking out for them in the first place, so she might walk directly into any of her new peers or only narrowly miss them. Once she registers the stretch of doors, however, and the presence of anyone else, she's only got one thing to say. ]
What is this place? Answer me!
[ Hello to you too! While both the key and the mysterious device are currently in her possession, she has absolutely not given the latter object a second glance, which is for the best. ]
hello naughty gem it's window time

Lancer...?
[ She calls out for her Servant automatically, and it's only when she gets no reply that it sinks in that this might be more than a glitch in the system, some reset of her personal room's environment. Scowling, she swings her legs over the edge of the bed, and there isn't so much in this room that it takes her much time at all to pull it apart. The rules on the wall, the terminal that isn't quite the same as the one at use within the Moon Cell, the fact that her hair is its natural color instead of her avatar's... Horrified realization dawns on her, and she drops her handheld to the floor.
When she slams the door to her room open and addresses the lounge outside, however, she seems less horrified and more absolutely furious. ]
Who did this?!

All things considered, it could be a lot worse. Still, she's pretty convinced she's dreaming--the setting is too fantastic to think anything else. Then again, the fact that she'd be having a dream and still have on her slightly blood-splattered clothes is uh. Well. ... It might not be a dream, is the point. It feels entirely too real.
She grabs that key card and the device, pocketing it. She doesn't yet go through the phone, because she can't be the only one here. There must be others. And when she finds another person, while she's wandering the halls-- ]
Excuse me-- You just woke up here too, didn't you?
[ Later, after she opens up the device, and. Hm. She sure hates that! She doesn't spend a whole lot of time looking through it--reading the profiles seems more than a little intrusive--but she happens upon the map. Thank god there's a library, which she heads to immediately. ]
Incredible... I never would have thought it would be so big.

...Anyway. The less he concerns himself with that the better; it's kind of hard to focus and this place is weird as balls, but that's something he's going to decide he's okay with for the time being, just to keep everything in order. As such, he can be found wandering out of Room 9 and...spending a fair amount of time in the tunnels, just looking at the fish like an absolute goddamn tourist and seeming strangely enthralled by them. Not in the way that some of y'all who haven't seen normal fish before might be, but like he might have been expecting something...else, regardless.]
Well, those could have been infinitely worse.
[Granted, aimless wandering around won't really do him any favors, and they were given an eventual destination; he can be found the meeting room somewhat early, having claimed one of the chairs in the most idle manner possible and with his attention fully dedicated to the device like a teen that's just discovered texting, because we have full holographic interfaces in Resident Evil's version of 1998 but we don't have cell phones.]
I suppose there are worse people to be with in a situation like this. At least this set's interesting.
[His words seem just as idle as his posture, despite the situation; he's either very okay with all of this or he's very good at seeming like he is.]

The woman who eventually steps out of Room #12 in a pristine white labcoat (albeit one with a large armband that reads "FORENSICS," in big bold letters) looks about as pleased to be part of this whole shin-dig as everyone else is; the frustrated scowl she wears is clear as day as she examines the facility. In better circumstances, she might actually be more curious about the place (she's loathe to admit it, but it seems far snazzier than anything her department has in LA), but for now, she's frustrated to have to hunt for a pen and paper as she furiously fiddles with the device in her hand and walks. ]
Seriously, how does this thing not have a notepad function? Am I back in the stone age?
[ She's mostly on the hunt for a storage area, hoping that her bag will come up somewhere along the way. There was some pretty important stuff in there, and it'll come out of her paycheck if she can't bring it all back in one piece. She'll poke her head into each of the various rooms, but after a quick look around to figure out the general purpose of the area, she'll just huff and make a show of turning around back into the lobby.
Her mini-investigation is cut short when she notices she has only twenty minutes until the meeting starts; she can be found in the meeting room, playing Snake on her device to pass the time until the meeting starts (and doing a pretty poor job of it). Far be it for her to get chewed out for being late, after all. ]

Overall, it's not the worst unexpected situation one Della Duck has found herself in, and that's what she finds herself thinking as she assesses the situation. Her first priority, as she leaves room #11 with little trepidation, is a personal one, it seems. ]
Kids? [ A sort of cautious call, and after a moment-- ] Uncle Scrooge, Donald?
[ It'll take her just a glimpse of the other occupants -- you -- for a growing discomfort to take root. You're now being studied by a three foot tall duck woman with a robotic leg. ]
...Oookay, so this is a new kind of pickle to be in.
[ After awhile, you may hear some grunting and muttering from the library. Entering will find... Well, she's scaling one of the bookshelves, that's certainly a sight. Did she check to see if there are ladders...? (She did not.) ]
One of these's got to have some kind of...stupid...hidden...
[ Good luck with that.
That nonsense aside. She's read that message on the blackberry, of course she has--but Della's a bit too action-oriented to sit and read through everything first thing. After some exploration, she finally does take time in the north tunnel to flick through the profiles, never reading too in-depth. ]
No, no, no... Okay, really, the species range of this place is a little bit suspect.

...what on earth...
[After that bit of Concern, Seteth decides to scout out the area. He tries both the locked doors just in case, and he stares at the vault-styled door for a while, but eventually, he parks himself in the library to see if he can cram any information on literally whatever any of this is! He's definitely increasingly confused as he flips through the growing stack of books surrounding him, because this... well, he recognizes some of it? But it shouldn't... what? Aegir Hound, we're not in Fodlan anymore, he guesses!]

It's hard to say when the door to Room #15 opens, because nobody really sees when it does, only that it's open now, and there's a man... raccoon trying to sneak out of it. Which is difficult, given he's in a room full of other people.]
Bentley, Murray? [He taps his ear. Nothing, not even the earpiece he normally has.] Okay, I definitely don't recall checking into a nautical themed hotel.
[Of course, it's going to hit him pretty soon that it's not just ocean themed. Right around the time he wanders into the South Tunnel. He alternates between looking out into the water, and at the little device they'd all been given.]
Of course they wouldn't be stupid enough to put a phone option on here.

Once he makes his way out, Brian can be seen in one of the tunnels, watching the fish just sort of swim by. He seems kind of zoned out, but he's found it's just as relaxing as watching the clouds go by.
Or you could find him in the fitness room. He's working on bench presses and he's got a pretty sizable amount of weights on the barbell as he's working up a good sweat.
Or maybe you just decide to go to the library and see, by all intents in purposes, a rotten corpse lying face first on a table-- no wait, there's snoring. He's just sleeping. ]

That gets her to move out of Room #1 quickly. Rhea probably seems too calm for the situation. Except there are small signs to prove that likely isn't the case. Her shoulders are tense, her gaze moves too quickly around the area to size things up.
Later she can be found in the fitness of all places. In particular she's drawn to some punching bags. Her fingers brush against them though she doesn't actually punch them.]
I see...
[See what, she doesn't say.
Later, she'll finally end up in the meeting room. She'll sit as primly as she can in the uncomfortable chair. Her hands are clasped tightly together as her eyes close. It is time to pray.
She's mostly silent but there is one phrase she will say aloud, multiple times:]
May the goddess watch over us all.

That's not so strange; she sleeps sometimes. The change in setting's a little weird, though.
This should be frightening - and yes, it sort of is. But the ocean! Isn't it incredible? Rose spends a little time marveling at the scenery outside her window before she even steps outside.
(She sees the device and opens it up for a second, but ends up stopping after she's read the first profile. It's more fun to just meet and talk to people, isn't it? This will have no negative repercussions!)
Eventually, the door to Room 20 swishes open, and a giant pink woman ducks out. If anyone's outside, she smiles.]
Oh, hello! Do you know where this is?
[Otherwise, you can find her in the tunnels, gazing in apparent wonder up at the fish swarming around again. It never gets old! She also flits through the dining area, picking up a cookie to casually munch on while she explores the rest of the area.]
This is good food, for an underwater base.

You—!
[ It's one thing to see Rose Quartz as she's been recently, weak and soft and utterly baffling, quite another to come face to face with the legendary warrior she'd hoped to defeat It feels almost as if she's seeing her for the first time
yuk yuk yuk, and the shock and the rage of it hit her fresh. How dare she look up at it with that air of wonder after what she did to its rightful owner? But right after that, the bravado comes back, and her face cracks in an upsetting grin. ]
Finally. [ She's starting to put it together. Of course a human couldn't make a base like this. Of course it'd look ridiculous and antiquated, when all the Crystal Gems have on hand are the ruins of Era 1 tech. Somehow, they must have set a trap, and she fell for it. ] I thought I'd never see you out of that ridiculous disguise.

He moves out of Room #21 with his tablet in tow, opting to poke around the place for the time being. If he's freaking out at all, he certainly doesn't show it; he seems pretty blasé about the whole thing, almost disconcertingly so. There's no sense in freaking out, yet, right? That notice about killing people is pretty ominous, but there's no reason to freak out yet when nothing's even happened.
He can be found in the dining area, randomly selecting a bag of chips and popping the bag open with a rather loud pop. He grimaces, peeking inside the bag and fishing out a chip, what to someone familiar looks barbecue flavored. ]
Seems kind of stupid to have these here, how else are you gonna open them without making people think you're being attacked?
[ Later, he can be found at the North tunnel, still chomping on some chips with an ungloved hand as he stares out into the abyss of the ocean, trying to see if he can spot a familiar island human ranch in the distance. ]
So busting out of here is out of the question, then.
[ For the rest of the time, he parks himself on a couch in the lounge, propping his feet up and trying to play the game he found on the tablet. He's obviously not very good of it, but he's luckily managed to get an idea as to what the point is. ]

Which is why he can be found wandering the tunnels looking disgruntled and lost, mostly.
However, he perks up a little bit when he sees someone else even though they're definitely not familiar.]
Yooo.... Miranda throwing a party I wasn't told about or what?
[Of course he's just assuming you know what the fuck he's talking about.
Later, he can be found in the art gallery squinting at what is hopefully just a copy of the Mona Lisa in distaste.]
...last time I checked, she's supposed to have at least six more eyes than that.
[This is just insensitive.]
